Default For one thing, it's a safety issue

If you knew the guy was drunk, etc., will you sleep better at night?
Now folks want another paper, wasn't that tried by the Ocala paper? Or a section on TOTV just for news, sounds like a rumor starter.
So much chatter over nothing!
As someone who commutes on a bicycle on the streets of The Villages I definitely would sleep better (or maybe worse) knowing more details of this accident. I suggest that those who wonder what all the fuss is about go down Buena Vista and look at the extent of the damages. I think the other issue here is what we readers have come to expect from our community newspaper based on our experiences BEFORE moving to The Villages. I am certain that had I taken out a road gate barrier, continued a few hundred feet, taken out a directional sign, large shrubs, and then traveled completely through a concrete block building in Danville, Pa., the Danville News or Bloomsburg Press Enterprise would have had a a photo of the damages as well as info about the driver and suspect cause of the accident. Thus, when something like this happens here in The Villages, I understand why people ask... "why wasn't it in the paper".

I'd like to know why so many gates and fences are coming down all of a sudden. Who took out the fence at the gates in front of Havana, why so many people hit the gate at Odell circle, why we need gate passes when MOST gates go up by themselves. I'd also like to know why we don't have RADAR traps on Morse & Buena Vista when they're on 466A. Come on people there is a speed limit slow down, what's your hurry. If a buisness is closed, are they leaving, did someone die, is there a mechanical problem. That's all. It's a local paper, I for one would like alittle more local news. We had hometown papers up North that did just that. Now don't tell me to move back up North it's not going to happen. This is jmo on the LOCAL paper.

Bogie.

I don't get the paper up here and I don't think of it akin to a terrorist attack. However, since it took more than two days to report it, I wonder why.

If Muncle were here, he would probably point out that The Daily Sun is a paper with the purpose to sell houses. I have no problem with that.

When I see damage to a building, I wonder what happened to it, and mostly hope no one was hurt. I like to read what happened in the community where I live. I have no problem with the political editorials being Republican slanted. I have no problems with it being a "Good News" paper. I love to read the Sun.

I would like a little more information a little faster sometimes. That is all.

Sumter county sheriff has conducted radar on Buena Vista just south of Palmer country club and probably will again.
The last time it was done there was an uproar right here on TOTV about speed traps in TV. What ever happens the minority will yap the loudest.

We are bike commuters in TV too and use major roads, cart lanes, and rec paths.
This is a cyclist's heaven and THE major reason we and many others moved
here.
To have the freedom to go anywhere a motor vehicle or car can go

While we are not golfers nor carters wenare grateful for the
lower impact to the roadspace and the environment carters enable.

And though we know that golf courses are one of the least sustainable uses for
the land, we appreciate
the views while awheel.

Like motoring, carting, biking.....even golfing or strolling.....
There is inherent danger and risk

We realize this every pedal stroke and we ride with certain cautions
and always stay clear of gates and away from the middle of the roundabout

We cyclists are more aware that most of discourteous, aggressive, and distracted motorists

we feel that instead of being scorned we should be appreciated
because of how little space we occupy and our low impact on the roads, yet we pay the same taxes

And while we do appreciate real
news, we agree with bogie shooter and wonder "WHY" a cyclist would sleep any better knowing the wwwww of the 'event'

and it was a mishap not a wild trend

we actually feel safer knowing there will be a bit more attention to the traffic

and we agree that we don't need the repetitive coverage

There are plenty of papers and on line sources full of any kind of news to feed the hunger

thanks to totv and the contributors

I think I've lost my marbles. Just looked at the online version of the Daily Sun and did not see the article. Would someone kindly check to see if it's still there and send me the link to it.

Reading some of the posts in this thread, it appears that , with the exception of a "terrorist attack" in the Villages, some people don't want to know what's going on around them. Sad!

Why were there no names, ages or company of the driver. I'm sure the police accident report has all of that info. Nobody knows anything other than it was a white p/u. Many questions, like who will pay for the rebuilding of the pump station. Will it come from the drivers insurance or will we the residents have to pay?

Isn't it more the depth of the knowledge that is in question?
