Default Security screen

I have seen ads on the internet for security screens that a box cutter, rock, sledge hammer or even a bullet will penetrate. Has anyone installed such screen?

I want one for my bedroom window and a security screen door for the front door.

If you can’t find that screen. How about steel bars and moat ???

It must be true if you read it on the internet. ”common sense”
Even bullet prove vests have flaws.

Have there been break-ins in your neighborhood? If you only do one window I would think a criminal would know to go through another window and then sneak into your bedroom through the bedroom door.

OP, IMHO, I think there are some flaws in what you may be trying to do. First, screen door locks are easily broken allowing the door to be opened, unless you are also installing a significantly upgraded lock. Be sure that if you are doing this you have a way to rapidly open this in an emergency, like a fire. As for the security screen, unless you also installing an alternative mounting, screen are easily removeable for inside or outside. Same concern here about an emergency, at least one window in each bedroom is designated as an emergency exit, if you install a non removeable security screen you have created a safety risk.
Just my thoughts, good luck with your search.

Hmmmm, a screen that can’t be cut with a box cutter and will stop a bullet, but will still let fresh air through. Can whoever invented that also come up with beer that has no calories and one can drink as many as they desire and always wake up the next morning feeling like a million bucks? I’m in on that : )

I believe this person lacks the knowledge of what security is. If you are that scared to live in your community then moving might be your best security answer.

While we can't speak to the OP motivations, I will say that I'd be interested in those screens. Why? I've had one window shattered and one chipped by lawn service. If a screen could stop it, that'd be great.

That said, I know of nothing that can stop all of the above that still allows any quantity of light through or any amount of air flow.

1/2 inch steel plates with some murder holes/machicolations would probably work.

I think a moat with great white sharks surrounding your home will also work to keep you safe.

Unless there's a "safe room"

Kudos for the machicolations word. That sent me digging for a definition. Medieval term for weapon ports. Still enjoy learning new words after all these years. Thank you!

You could install "Hurricane Screens" on your lanai (or on any of your windows).

What are Hurricane Screens?
