My phone cost over$1000 and my sunglasses around $300 I worked hard to buy the things I like and don’t leave them laying around for someone to take, The suronding areas of the villages have quite a few people who wouldn’t thing anything about grabbing what they can from you. Keep you stuff locked under key and don’t assume because your a villager your safe from being a target because your not! This is in no way a gated community you need to remember your stuff is only as safe as you keep it.
I came from a suburb of Cincinnati where we had lived for forty years and before that Columbus, Ohio. Even today our daughter who still lives there doesn't lock her door. I get after her for it, it isn't smart anymore. No one in our family has ever been robbed. When we left, suburban drugs were beginning to really happen. It makes me angry and upset that this is happening in wonderful areas.

I haven't ever left anything of value in our car. But for those reading this forum, The Villages does have very low crime and quite possibly because most of us do NOT work and have some pretty good vision. If we see folks who don't look like Villagers, they stick out like sore thumbs, and most of us would report them if they were acting suspiciously. Most of the folks in surrounding areas are good people. I HATE it when people make general statements about them that is negative. No wonder folks there dislike us so much.

It is always wise to pay attention to your surroundings and many of us have cameras everywhere. The ladies and gentlemen who are law enforcement in the three counties and municipalities deserve our thanks. You wait and see, if this fellow comes back, they will get him.

Maybe it's hard to tell from the video. Maybe it's difficult to discern among the different darker skinned races. Maybe she just plain DOESN'T WANT TO.

In 2011 there were thieves kicking in front doors in new area. One swift kick would take the whole door and frame out. A golf cart was stolen out of a driveway while the owners were inside having breakfast. Many valuable items were stolen in broad daylight.

The police caught maybe not 100% of them, but enough to stop the crime wave. It doesn't help your emotions much when you come home to find your house robbed, but there is some measure of satisfaction to see the criminals caught and prosecuted. The LEOs do a good job around TV.

Well the news did report the perp was wearing white shoes, very helpful, no doubt!

But a thief caught burglarizing a car that makes a threatening gesture/move toward the person that caught him/her is a whole different story.

Most people would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

I'm wondering how long it would take for a woman to get the gun out of her purse when coming upon the intruder. She may end up being carried by 6 if the robber, with gun in hand, gets her before she gets her gun.

Time to bring back good old "street justice". That's something they understand. Broken kneecaps are a good reminder that crime doesn't pay.

On the advice of my counsel, I take the fifth and The Lobster. Whoever did this needs some street justice, BobnBev was on the money and Krazorback knows the finer point of when it's ok to cap or not to cap because that is the real question. Scum that's what they are. Stay out of here.

Never , and I mean never attempt to draw down on any person who has a firearm in their hand pointed in your direction-best is to back away get cover and then unholster your firearm and hope you don't need to use it --remember these words if you ever have to use a firearm--when LEO's arrive--"I will co-operate with you 100% after my lawyer arrives"

Good post... I faced this situation a few years back. The guy that pulled the gun on me spent the weekend in jail and had a court date.

The fact is Leesburg had the highest increase in crimes committed in the state last year!

Crime rates for first half of 2017 down statewide but up in Broward, data shows - Sun Sentinel

There is nothing in my car that would make me want to shoot someone.

I could probably tear someone apart with my bare hands who would attempt to harm my grandchildren.

There was someone who broke into some of our cars at Eisenhower. The law enforcement will probably find out who it is.
