Default CBS Verses Stick Built

Just wondering if anyone can tell the advantages and disadvantages of one over the other. I have heard the bills are cheaper in a CBS but now the newer (how new ?) stick built are better than the CBS.

Any info will help, thanks.

The three little pigs would tell you that a house built of stone would better keep the wolf out...but in TV they have to be painted. BUT the house built of sticks can be power washed for less than fifty bucks.

Our first attempt at buying a home in TV fell through because of needed repairs, etc. We already had an insurance quote on it. The annual cost was around 1200 dollars. This was for a 1580 sq ft stick built vinyl siding house.

Our next attempt at buying was successful. We bought a CBS house with a hip roof (no gables, the roofs look kind of like pyramids). 1880 sq ft. 800 bucks per year for the insurance from the same company. We bought a house that was almost 20% larger than the initial attempt, yet the insurance was 2/3. When you figure in square footage, the annual cost for the first one was 76 cents per sq ft. The cost for the second one is 42 cents.

Since insurance cost is based on statistics, there's gotta be a reason why insurance is so much less for a CBS/hip roof house. I can take the insurance savings and pay to have the house painted every few years.
