Default Changing Appliances

Hello Everyone

We are closing on our new home in Buttonwood on Dec. 6th. I would like to swap the current appliances for another color. Can this be done? Has anyone done this? Is there a fee? Who do I contact in order to do it? Thank you for any help.

We had some warranty work done on our refrigerator and stove, and the repairman from the company who installed them, told us that they sometimes do upgrades if the appliances haven't been used. Might want to check and see who installed your's and contact them directly. We had ordered and paid for clear shower doors and got frosted. When we checked the contract stated frosted. We should have read it more closely. TV wouldn't change it, even though it hadn't been installed yet. They go exactly by the contract, so that's why I say to talk to the installer. Maybe somebody else had a different experience, but that's my story.

We bought a spec home and they wouldn't let us change the appliances. I was happy to hear that because the home had stainless appliances and my wife preferred painted.

When we did the walk through on our new home with the builder at the end of August, I obtained the name of the supplier of the appliances as I wanted to upgrade the stove. The supplier, Del-Air Air Conditioning and Appliances in Clermont, was extremely easy to work with and I was able to upgrade the stove to a much better model. I had been checking at several appliances stores to make sure that I knew exactly which stove I wanted and what the general cost should be. Del-Air's pricing was a little less than any other place I checked. The only othe charge was a $35 swap-out fee. They were also quite willing to swap out my microwave oven and dish washer, but I was happy just being able to upgrade the stove. They arranged delivery on my schedule and the delivery guys were great!

So I'm certain that it is possible, as long as 1) appliances were supplied by Del-Air and 2) the appliances were never used. Find out where the appliances came from and give them a call. It certainly can't hurt to ask!

Could get a little dicey now that GE no longer has a contract to supply appliances to TV.

Thank you!
I will look through our papers and see what if I can find out who the supplier was - I will not be there for the walk through, but will let them know that I need to know who it was. Fingers crossed it was Del-Air. I don't mind paying a little more and for the swap out - and if worse comes to worse - can live with what we have, BUT it doesn't hurt to try.
At least I know it has been done.

If anyone has any other experiences please let me know - I figure the GE thing shouldn't matter - in fact suppliers may be trying to unload. I have always had GE employees as my husband worked for GE for 40+ years.

Thanks again to all who took the time to comment.
