Actually I’ve been researching a lot on the ChangLi electric cart. It not really a car. It’s considered a cart. The body is all metal. The chassis is square tube construction the same way they build other golf carts. The reason for the high price is not the for the vehicle but for what it cost to get it here. Just like everything else. They come with heating and air condition, am/fm radio and backup camera.There are US import companies that buy them by the lot, to sell here. They did this so you don’t have to incur all the fee and shipping issues and delays , if you were to buy one on your own.Electric Import Motors is one of the companies that I saw their YouTube review video’s on the cart. According to the video the 2022 has improved dramatically to cater to the American market. Maybe if you put a small solar panel on the roof it will give you some extra miles.Remember Hyundai in the 80s well look at them now. Ya never know.

ChangLi electric cars are not street legal in the USA. And since their engines allow them to go over 20mph, they are also not legally considered "golf carts." They are legally LSVs, in the USA, and must be registered and have the appropriate minimum insurance (PIP and that other one) in Florida.

Yes, but since they are electric they can be adjusted to conform to "Maximum capable speed of 20mph" usually through onboard ECM or (less often) gearing as per FL laws as can Atomic, Gem and dozens of others and be fine to use unregistered. The issue becomes when they are imported a declaration must provided of their specs and end use as that determines duties applied on landing in US ports. If the importer wants to pay higher (LSV or ORV) duties that would be his issue as long as they are sold at the appropriate speed limit (which of course is another story in itself). I was looking into importing one of these things a few years ago before realizing I was a lot better off letting Atomic do all the work. Gem, older Atomics and others can all be set and locked (haha) to just about any speed up to 28-33MPH depending on what model.

Now if you want to license one of these as STREET LEGAL/LSV that's another story and takes a bit of physical work and paperwork (other than GEM and 1 other I believe) which can be licensed like a car at a dealer or local DMV office because it is listed on FL DMV listings as meeting all requirements. Atomic and the other odd-ball imported vehicles need to go through a State inspection and a couple certifications and a bunch of paperwork and be trailered up to Ocala for State inspection which in my experience was a joke. They get it, take your money, look at it and say you're good to go.
