I threw the whole section out...I was busy stuffing the turkey...needed the room on the counter and never gave it a thought
At one time it bothered me that retailers had made Christmas so commercial, now I just walk past all the early Christmas displays just like I walk past the pet food aisle in the grocery store (we don't have any pets) once the cat is out of the bag you can't change it....so I just ignore it no sense in getting all wrapped up in your shorts about something you can't control |

I don't blame the retailers for putting in their Black Friday ads in the daily "rag" on Thanksgiving day. It's the day before all the good sales begin, and all the crowds will be at the door before the stores open. We need a good economy to be successful. So for the next month, all the stores will be doing a brisk business.
For me, Christmas is a Holy Day first, and a holiday second. For me, Christmas is to celebrate the birth of our Lord. A nativity scene, and candles in the windows are my favorite. I enjoy religious Christmas Carols. Then comes the tree and lights and a wreath (I don't really need them, but have them). I don't like secular christmas carols, especially the Grandma got run over by a reindeer. Santa is certainly for kids. Gift giving, while important, for me it's secondary in my list of priorities. In today's world, Christmas has lost it's true meaning. |

I have always enjoyed the sale ads. Thanksgiving tradition. After dinner we would gather around with all the ads planning our schedule for Black Friday sales, while others would watch football or took a nap. Usually the first stop would be Rikes for that years stuffed animal (every year was different). After we would meet at our favorite diner for breakfast. Fun memories

As did almost every paper in the US, unless you’ve forgotten. NJ was running Christmas sales and editions for two weeks now.

Like a friend of mine who was an Advertising Director of one of the Booth newspapers told me, the number of pages they could print was based on the advertising revenue for that day, and that totally determined the amount of news stories that would be included in the paper regardless of what was happening. |

I worked in retail for many years and Christmas prep started in June. I was so happy when I got my first (non-retail) job out of college and didn't have to go to work on Black Friday.

If you don’t like the paper, don’t read it. Simple.

I am very confused. December 25th is a date made official by Emperor Constine (sp) to celebrate the birth of Christ. It seems the the birth date was actually unknown. I guess this remark will not go well with a lot, but why can’t we just celebrate a HOLY BIRT?
