FYI. The Shell on 441 will change over to Circle K in January.

The difference is $.06 cents per gallon. The extra $.30 cents to fill-up the golf cart is not going to break me, but I just don’t like stations that charge more for folks that does not have the oil company’s affinity credit card. I don’t know if this change applies to all Circle K’s or just this location. Last Sunday the Circle K/Shell @ 441 and Santa Barbara was still a Shell station. Look like I will be bypassing the Circle K at Southern Trace.
Something similar happened to me. I went to WAWA on 441 for gas and my Credit Union gas card that gives me 5% off would not work there. I thought it was a problem with my card so I filled up with another card. Later just to check my card I went to the Shell on the corner near there and bought something and the card worked fine?! Is this something that gas stations are doing now to get you to use their cards??

Unless I'm missing something, I use a credit card that has 5% on gas, which at $3 a gallon is $0.15 a gallon. Even if you use the card that gave you 2%, that would match $0.06 a gallon Circle K is giving. I don't see a reason to go with a Circle K debit card.

I use only Top Tier Gas in my turbo engine. I questioned the attendant when I noticed the change. She stated they sell their own brand of gas. She had no concept of what I was asking. I now buy my gas at the shell up the street.
Top tier gas is not premium. It is gas that meets the manufacturer requirements for the amount of detergents it is certified by the manufacturer and an independent testing service.
BP, SHELL, MARATHON, MOBILE, CISCO etc all qualify.
WAWA, WAL MART GAS, SAM'S AND SOME CIRCLE K'S SPEEDWAY THAT SELL THEIR OWN BRAND DO NOT.

Default Absolutely Correct

The detergent package is what keeps the carburetor, or fuel injector clean as well as the valves etc.
As far as Shell, They have one of the best detergent packages and they have a loyalty card that gets you ???? five cents off on a gallon and a grocery promotion where you pay
$40 for a $50 gift card when you spend a minimum of $50.
You are spot on about Shell gasoline. Using Shell = less maintenance.

I gas up a BJ’s Clermont, they force me to use their credit card to get 10 cents off a gallon. The horror.

I agree and would prefer using shell on 441 but I do not believe it is golf cart accessible. Plus I think it is better gas.
Guess will have to get a gas can.

my large town car livery requires premium gasoline, & performs much better when using it. a car 'expert' once told me it uses less rpm, which is easier on the engine. not sue if this is true or not, but i do notice poor performance when using regular gasoline. the cost isnt an issue as much, i make up for it in other areas where i do not spend regularly

The octane rating of gasoline has absolutely nothing to do with RPM. Transmission and differential gearing determine the final drive ratio which is what determines engine RPM when driving. The reason you "notice poor performance" when using regular gasoline is because the ECU retards timing to prevent pre-ignition (knocking) which results in less efficient engine operation.

The signs are up announcing this switch. A shame because Shell is top-tier. I will need to find another top-tier station to use.
