My 2020 became unusable. Had to get towed by cart aide. Mechanic cleaned the arrestor and now no problems.

Default Mining

Why don't you show a picture of dead sea life or a mine after it's filled back in and repaved with grass?

I agree. Henry “The Golf Cart Guy”removed mine in 5 minutes and fixed the problem. No new muffler system needed. The cart instantly regained its speed and power.

When I had work done on my cart, the mechanic highly recommended removing the spark arrestor. He said it would be slightly louder especially in the tunnels. I’ve not noticed much of a sound difference and cart seems to run much better.

Default Spark arrestor on Yamaha quiet tec

I removed mine on 2020. Cart was a dog and now it fly’s. More free flowing exhaust. You don’t need it, it just restricts the exhaust per the on line research

He also said that if you remove the arrestor (noise suppressor) it reduces the back pressure and can cause damage to the motor over time.

Now I hear some people removed it or drilled a hole in it. I wish I could find the unbiased facts. Yes, there is a thread about this on the golf equipment forum but I would like to hear some knowledgeable facts about the topic. Does anyone have some or maybe long term experience following a modification?

Not clogged just restricting exhaust gas getting out. If it was clogged it wouldn’t run. IMO it will never cause damage to lawnmower engine if removed . Running it restricted will most likely cause damage to engine due to it overheating.

My cart was acting up too. I was changing the oil and looked at the spark arrestor. All clogged up with carbon deposits. Read many who removed it or drilled hole(s) in it to improve performance. Not a believer in "back pressure"...engine has to breath. I drilled into it and the whole thing spun out. No improved performance with it removed and the cart was MUCH louder once warmed up. Couldn't find just the spark arrestor anywhere as it would be an easy part to replace. Had to buy the entire exhaust system. Not doing that. Called carts and Clubs of Ocala. $101 to fix as they weren't buying my "brillo pad" material fell out. Future oil changes will include spark arrestor cleaning. My advice is don't remove it. Call it in if under warranty.

Can anyone tell me the exact location of the spark arrestor? How easy is to access it? I am guessing that is at one end of the muffler. Is it close to the tail pipe end? A picture would be helpful, if possible. Thank you.
