I would still much prefer to have that gizmo installed on my side view mirror though.
So why don't you?

Wow. Cheap. Is the the correct writer for the village frequency? If existing cards will work after upgrade, looks like they won't change existing frequency.

I don't know about that one, but I have one that looks like this and it does work.

I just use the card that came with the house. Hubby has one too. We carry them with us and use them if/when needed. Mine's in a silicone pocket stuck to the back of my cell phone case. If I'm too far from the card reader to just push the red button (or if the card reader doesn't have one) then I just hold the back of the phone up with my open window and voila - open gate.

If it's raining - my wrist and hand get wet. The phone's in a case, it can handle a couple of seconds of downpour.

Tried that. Wireless charging for my phone stopped working. Likely too big of a gap, with too much blocking the magnetic energy. Multiple chargers tried, no dice with all.

That could be another reason why many people want the mirror transponders.

Although I have a wireless charger, I never use it. I did try using it, all I had to do was pull the card halfway out of the silicone pocket and it charged up just fine - though insanely slow, which is why I never use it.

Wireless chargers are never as fast as plugging your phone with a cord into a wall socket charger (or cigarette lighter charger or USB port on your dashboard). So rather than waste hours waiting for my phone to charge up from 60%, I waste 15 minutes with corded charging.

They've also improved cell phone cases these days. And they've improved on those silicone card pockets as well. There are dozens of combos you can choose and still have your phone charge with a wireless charger.

There is absolutely no need, or reason, for anyone to use a cloned gate card, when their home comes with two of them already.

I've seen several good reasons for using a cloned card in this thread alone.

If someone steels a cloned golf cart, bike or other vehicle can they get in the property with it?

I had mine done by "The Village Blacksmith" for $35. Ellie Yifrach was professional and ensured that it would work.
If you are considering getting this done, I highly recommend Ellie. His contact number is: 352-530-5984.
I can push the red button for free. Who needs a gate card, cloned or otherwise? I never use mine.

These gates are blocking PUBLIC roads.
We, the owners here, are the ones who pay for everything here. That includes the management staff and all the infrastructure.

Management needs to remember that they work for us. Heavy handed actions against us are not appreciated or acceptable.
I've often wondered, have the people in Leesburg, Wildwood, Tavares, etc. etc. ever considered just putting up gates and attendants to "guard" their PUBLIC streets and roads too ? Just something I've thought about from time to time..what if EVERYONE decided to invent their own method of obstructing traffic to public roads, can't deny access, but just throw up gates and stage people at the gates to public roads ?

The gates are not used to "guard" the roads, as much as to slow traffic, so golf carts don't get flattened. I suppose if the towns you mentioned decided to facilitate golf cart transport, then they would likely consider the gate options, especially as a successful example is so nearby.

I dont understand peoples' anger over cloned cards. If you don't want one, don't get one.

I bought a cloner (the one pictured above) and made my own cards for all my villages vehicles (including a Goldwing). They worked well and no baby seals were harmed.
