I think they need to lower or remove the inflated subscription fees that we pay to use this forum if threads are going to be moderated. So unfair.

I explained why I thought they didn't want political comments somewhat sarcastically in this thread and mentioned a certain politician who I thought was doing a good job. Not only did they remove it, but gave me an infraction.

This is just a reminder, generally speaking, that this is not an uncensored public forum. The moderators are the owners of this for-profit organization and as such are free to censor individual posts and/or shut down whole threads based perhaps to a degree of their personal opinions but primarily on the bottom line. They own it; they can run it as they wish. As with any other business, follow the money.

In the somewhat distant past, with a previous group of owners of TOTV, this level of censorship, or as they called it, “banning,” led to the departure of a large number of participants who had contributed significantly to the quality and well-being of the community. Change in ownership of TOTV notwithstanding, most of these folks never came back. It’s a shame, because they added so much to life in TV. Just remember that TOTV is not a public service.

I remember that period, many that left were consistent political posters.

Much sadder, are those that can't seem to understand the simple concept that a private business has the right to set rules/guidelines on their members - who are in no way mandated to join in the first place.

!!!!! Here we go yet again!

Just this morning I opened a Thread re Trans athletes, copying a News article. The Mods moved it to Current Events, alerting me via PM. AOK. About 4pm or so today, I saw there were about 14 responses - providing input from various viewpoints. Fine.

Just checked to see what new posts may have said. Hmmm - Thread NOT THERE. Weird. Then I went into my profile Stats to check the Thread there. Nothing. It not only was apparently CLOSED, but DELETED from my stats. Gone, as if it never happened. This is NOT the first time this has occurred to some of my openedThreads.

OK - if it became political (why???) or there were personal sniping - close the Thread and indicate this as the last post and reason. But nope.

As usual, there is at least ONE MODERATOR who seems to have a vendetta.

So apparently we cannot have an adult conversation here on interesting an topical Current Events?

BTW, I have emailed and PMd Moderators at least 6 times prior to this for information. And every time - not a word back. It's futile to attempt to comm with some Mods.

The reason I am telling you this is because I know darned good and well that we would disagree on many controversial issues. I usually do not bother to engage, but every now and then, I do.

But you will NEVER see me behaving like some whiny princess when I get dinged.

When I get into trouble, I know why. . .and I knew it going in. And so do you.

Also, I know I do not own the joint — but sometimes I sure wish I did.

I just wish they would tell posters why entire threads are deleted.
Months ago... national politics were forbidden but local politics were OK.
Now... there is a local news story about 2 commissioners being arrested. The most recent thread had 2 posts... the OP asked what was the latest news. An answer stated news reported in local news outlets... with a comment "should be interesting." No overtly negative comments. The thread was deleted. I just wish they would close the thread and state why it was closed.
Has their policy changed? Is local politics now forbidden?

Not sure why.............it was just created last night...........didn't get nasty or political.
