Do you have to live in TV to be a member of one of its clubs?

Not sure if the poster means one of the country clubs or social clubs.

As you know, the country club restaurants are open to the public. You do have to be a Villages resident to be a priority golf and pool member.

The social clubs hold meetings at the recreation centers. You do have to have a Villages resident card (or guest card) to use any part of the rec. centers. I would say that you do have to be a Villages resident to belong to any social club - it is part of The Villages Lifestyle.

No, you don't have to own, but you likely need a resident ID for most of the clubs(renters can get a $50 for 2 adults ID, sometimes included in the rent, sometimes an add-on fee). My quilt guild chapter has a couple of renters who belong. Each club can probably make their own resident requirements.

Some of the alumni clubs that meet outside the rec centers have non-Villager members as well as Villagers.

Some clarification:

To attend (belong to) a social club which meets in a Villages facility (rec center, for example), you do need to have a Villages ID, whether that shows you as a resident, a guest or a renter.

On the other hand, should you want to attend a meeting of a non-funded, medically-oriented support group which meets in a Villages facility, you do NOT need a Villages ID; only state as you enter that you are attending such a gathering!

Several years ago, there was considerable discussion about this provision; a few hard-nosed old-timers were afraid that our facilitites would be "over-run by outsiders!" My own support group kept close records over the year following the granting of privileges.

While we had some 20-25 non-residents at our meetings, a close analysis revealed that those attendees represented all of six "out-siders!"

The rules are, however, much stricter for social groups!
