Also, if a franchise was not profitable, corporate would buy back the franchise in accordance with the franchise contract. They would never allow a restaurant to close.
Oh, I'm sure that corporate still has plenty of ways to keep tabs on sales per hour, number of employees working, etc. The problem is that it has all become completely a numbers game. Back in the day if you worked in fast food/retail you would have some opportunities to slack off a bit during the slow times and joke around with your coworkers. Nowadays if you have a slow day - watch out - because that will be an excuse to cut the number of workers on any given shift down to the bare bones.

People aren't machines. And when a good multi tasking employee quits, it can take a restaurant a while to recover. What had once been controlled chaos becomes complete chaos. It doesn't mean that the employees and managers aren't busting their tails and doing the best that they can.

Flipping burgers ain't the same job that it used to be.

Maybe it's the fresh air that makes it taste better.
it's the last real, decent food McD.'s serves. the rest is all garbage

Can a McDonalds go down hill? Kind of starting at the bottom already.

Until we see higher unemployment rates, it will not change. But, what do I know.
Do you mean higher EMPLOYMENT rates? Higher Unemployment rates will only cause more folks to stay out of work! My son manages a country club out of state. To keep servers, he raised their per hour rate and gives them benefits like health insurance. But can every fast food restaurant afford to do that without increasing the cost of product?

You never know what is "clean" and what isn't ! Ever seen employees to who walk out of restroom and NOT wash hands ? Place does not matter, they all hire people to whom personal hygiene and country health rules mean nothing. Don't know what others have noticed, but came from a state where the health laws, local and state, were MUCH tougher than Florida's. Don't think it's going to improve in the near future if the desperation for employees continues ! ?

Higher unemployment is meant to say more people looking for work...

I love it when there is a fast food thread and all the “doctors” in the Villages who went to the Bill Gates Internet School of Medicine and now specialize in Cardiology and Nutrition have to make their knowledgeable comments.

I usually just get breakfast items at McDonalds. Last time at Colony it was fast. Perhaps Colony has become inefficient because the new Mcd on powell and 44 is owned by the people. Maybe thay transferred some employees from colony to the new store.

Was travelling up on 95 in Carolina a few months ago and did a quick stop at a McDs...ate inside, place was filthy.

But, but you can't sit at PDQ and drink free coffee refills all morning.
