I'm sorry, but this thread made me think of this skit. I love it and hope you do too:

Smile Publix sales

They are not number 1 in all 1055 stores but they are number 1 in their district. A store in naples in number one in the chain. Friday sat and sun., everyday had sales over 160,000 before labor day.

It was supposed to be a funny story, according to OP. No need to start bashing Publix.

When my hubby started doing the grocery shopping, there were lots of learning experiences. That's why they invented cell phones. He would be standing in an aisle staring at something and calling me on the phone. Many, many ladies took pity on him and took him under their wing. He is kinda cute. So now... I think he fakes not knowing where anything is.

They are cute, those helpful guys. We have five jars of peanut butter now.

But it is a good staple in case the power is out after a hurricane.

Love Publix. I always try to shop early in the morning, before 9 a.m. Don't always make it but I try. Always shop with a list and not when hungry, that's the rule to live by.

For those new to the store there is a store products locator sheet plus a coupon sheet by the front door right where the circulars are. I go early ,love the store and meet many nice people. As for the staff I've only met 1 grouch in 4 years and haven't seen him as of late. I go every week, it's cheaper for me to go then sending my wife. My only people complaint is the person who walks with the cart in the center of the isle and stops to scan the shelves looking for their item. I think push bars on the carts would be a good idea for them. One rule I have, if it's not on the list you don't get it. Works fine.

He went to Colony Publix and it was packed. He taped another ladies cart and she chewed him out on it. It was that he was reaching over to buy herring and he accidentally tapped our cart into hers. He says he barely tapped it and no big deal until she opened her mouth. Then he heard what the lady bought. She bought 3 shrimp! They couldn't even get a weight on it. What does one do with three shrimp? I guess place it on a salad, but 3???? Oh, it gets interesting around here.

Then I had to send him back to the store a few days later for just a few things and I told him this time to go to Sweet Bay and avoid the crowds, but no, he went back to Colony Publix since he knew where to find everything. So did that trip go smoothly for him - LOL, NO. He had only 10 things to buy and he was half way through and his cart disappeared. I guess he left it at the end of an aisle and would avoid all the other carts by not taking his cart along. Guess someone saw their opportunity and grabbed his cart and emptied it so he had to start all over, but he knew what aisles to go to.

Fun, fun, fun! Thought this was a funny story for you.
If I sent my husband to the grocery store by himself, he would return home with tubs of ice cream in every flavor!

I LOVE Out of Milk! But I don't think it's available for an iPhone.

I thought I saw a sign in Publix about a Publix app to aid in grocery shopping.

I have been to all 4 of the Publix's here. They do not all carry the same products. I love the Polish ham in the deli, but not all carry it. The store by First Watch is the emptiest. We sometimes go for breakfast there and then shop since it is so convenient. I like everything about the store and what they carry. They need to build a store near Brownwood somewhere though.

Colony is less crowded at night. Guess everyone wants to get their shopping done early and relax for the evening.

I think the experience gave my husband a new perspective. He is a keeper alright! I remember running around for him when he had an implant done.

I do remember Colony when it first opened and how nice and empty it was. Sure enjoyed the shopping then.

You find the store you shop at and this app lets you know the location if each item

Try it!
Thanks for the suggestion Lbmb. I've installed the Publix app on my iphone and have registered with Publix, etc. but I can't find the menu item to select "locate items in your Publix." Do you have to add items to your grocery list first?

George

P.S. I tried the grocery lists but that didn't answer my earlier question.

Since the building began south of 466a, we don't do "big" grocery shopping at Colony. Have found the best time to go there is after 5:30 pm---A LOT less people. Before 9 a.m. too! We now do our big shopping in either of the 3 other stores in T.V. My favorite is Southern Trace, 2nd favorite is the one past the hospital across from Lowe's.

When they get the one built on 466a--maybe that will take some of the busy-ness off from Colony!

Are you referring to the new Sweet Bay on Powell Rd. because I'm unaware of a new Publix store located on 466A? Unless there's one proposed while I slept, which has happened before!

I NEED to be more specific in my posts....I only meant when they get the new "grocery store" on 466a it should help with the crowds. Sorry didn't mean to refer to it being a Publix!! Think that will be happening near Brownwood (rumor has it) at a later time---a Publix I mean!
