With cell phones and "some" services cheap, I'm not sure anyone has "landline" phone, which uses the internet so that if the internet goes down, so does the phone.

The landline is used to put on all online inquiries which demand a phone number .. That way, 90% of nuisance and robo calls go to the landline, which is never answered .. it is worth 10 dollars a month

Also, it could come in handy if you lose your cell phone, or when you make a call and you want the other party to see a caller ID, but not your cell phone number. And, some cell phone services were out during the hurricane. I sometimes use the "landline" for a long, important call because the call quality seems to be better.
