Well, our first day here (Wed.) --due to rain at 5:30 -- prevented us from golf '9 and Dine' and left us with just 'Dine.' But that's OK. We hooked up with Ambassador Gracie and family after dinner. What great people they are!
Kathy and I will now be playing golf Thurs., 8:16 a.m., at Mallory. It is so peaceful here in Paradise. Gene |

Needless to say, Kathy and I are having a wonderful experience at TV during our 8-day vacation. 4 more days to go. So many things to observe!
I'll add to that list right now, at 6:15 a.m. Sunday. Went to bed early last night (getting to be a real TVer, huh?). Accordingly, I woke up early (5:25) this morning. Sat on the lanai (overlooking Tee #3 at the Amelia golf course of Mallory) to capture the beautiful silence of the dawn of a new day. I could see the figure of a person at the 2nd set of tee boxes. Appeared this person was wearing a type of a miner's helmet with a light on his forehead. I thought, ???. My question was quickly answered. He was repositioning the tee box location. He apparently had already done tee boxes #3 thru #5. After I watched him do tee box #2, then he got on his utility golf cart and drove to tee box #1. Same process again with this faceless worker (it was still dark). Then he drove to the green, and this time he didn't just sport his miner's helmet; he also drove the golf cart up and onto the green to use the cart's more powerful headlights to 'see his work.' Time to reposition the hole for a 'fresh' day of golfers. Do the math: 513 holes of golfing delight at The Villages. 513 x 5 sets of tee boxes per hole = 2,565 tee box adjustments EVERY DAY while most of us are still sleeping, or just sipping our early-morning coffee. (Note: If there are fewer than 5 sets of tee boxes on the Executive courses, subtract that number from 2,565). Regardless, either result = a lot of EARLY morning work by the golf course employees. All in the spirit/duty of making life more enjoyable at TV. It's now daybreak, as I put the finishing touches on this message. In about an hour, the golfers will begin their days with repositioned tee boxes and green flag pin locations. Little do they know the guys with miner's helmets started working pre-dawn to make golfing at TV an endless, delightful experience. Ahhh---TV. Gene |
