If $1.00 is spent every 1 second, how long to spend; $1 Million, Billion, Trillion ?
$1Million = approximately 12 days
$1Billion = approximately 31 years
$1Trillion = approximately 31,688 years
Wow!!!
Putting a "Trillion" in perspective using "seconds"

60 seconds was 1 minute ago
3,600 seconds was 1 hour ago
86,400 seconds was 1 day ago
2,592,000 seconds was a month ago
31,104,000 (that's 31 Million) seconds was a year ago
31,104,000,000 (that's 31 Billion) seconds was 1,000 years ago
1, 088,640, 000,000 (that's 1 Trillion) seconds was 35,000 years ago. Neanderthals were still walking the earth.

Many years ago in Readers Digest one of their page bottom briefs mentioned this exact subject. Basically it was if you had 1 million dollars and spent one thousand dollars every day it would last approximately 3 years. If you had 1 Billion dollars and again spent one thousand each and every day it would last approximately 3,000 years.

Kinda puts the zero's in perspective.

Wow!!!
I saw this calculated a little differently but with the same resulting numbers. It said, "if you were to count to 1million, 1billion, or 1trillion by seconds (e.g. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7.......) that is how long it would take. The purpose is simply to make you aware of how much more 1 trillion is than 1 million or 1 billion. Amazing!

When you talk money your rarely get the truth. Years ago a friend told me his son in law won the lottery. Making it simple but close to reality. There were ten guys who pooled their money and bought lottery tickets. They WON 20 million dollars. So simple math, 2 million each. SURPRISE the fine print, it is a 20 year payout and they take out the taxes before you ever get the money. Since it was a pool, it was decided to take immediate payout so it was not 2 million. Truth, I do not know. No my son in law. I was told his son in law received less than one hundred thousand on a 2 million dollar win.

Imagine the phone calls. I've been meaning to call you since third grade. You remember I let you copy my homework. I saw you won the lottery. I am having some financial trouble you have gotten sooo much could you lend me $$$$$$$$. Of course I do not intend to pay you back.

Not sure what you are saying. As far as our national debt, you can look it up as the national debt.

As I've said most people simply do not, cannot comprehend a Trillion yet we toss these numbers around like we do understand them. If, it is 28 Trillion or 30 Trillion, it does not matter, once we dare to see that we do not comprehend one Trillion.

The truth is that lotteries are probably the most egregious violators of the FTC rules for deceptive advertising. But, the FTC does a terrible job of enforcing their deceptive advertising rules against all companies. My favorite deceptive advertisements are the ones that claim something is "free" when it is not free.

The government does it daily.

The way our government is spending money right now we'll all be hearing a new term soon, quadrillion... When a trillion just isn't enough!
