Best idea is to talk with The Villages Insurance and have a sit down discussion with one of their professionals. Getting it direct from the source is always better than asking on a forum where you will get differing options or opinions.

Check out The Villages Straight Shooters Club website. They have a lot of info on this subject. I also recommend checking out the club. There are close to 2000 members in The Villages.

NRA insurance is not that good, I use CCW SAFE, Have their # in my phone.

1. Obtain a Florida Concealed Weapons License. Go to the website of the Florida Department of Agriculture (yes, Agriculture) for the forms.

2. Look at various Concealed Weapons insurance companies and see what meets your needs in terms of coverage and cost.

I have U.S. Law Shield, based in Texas but with good coverage in Florida. They have a nationwide network of attorneys that can represent you in case of a "use" of a legal firearm. "Use" can include merely pointing it at someone as well as firing it.

They also provide a card for your wallet with a phone number to reach an attorney 24/7 in case of an incident, along with a sentence to say to the police until you can consult with the attorney.

3. Your Homeowner's Insurance almost certainly doesn't cover the theft of firearms without an extra cost rider.

You might want to go to the NRA web site and look into firearms theft insurance. It would be good if you were to join the NRA to help them fight for your continued right to keep and bear arms. It's cheap. I've been a LIfe Member for over a half a century.

4. If you are not completely familiar and comfortable handling firearms, get some instruction. I've never been to The Villages gun club, so cannot recommend them, but I suspect they are a great resource.

5. Practice shooting.

USCCA offers defense insurance and sends an attorney immediately. My firearms instructor recommended this organization.

per year... worth every bit.... this should be a must
for everyone... just like car insurance... except they
provide and pay for the 2nd Amendment Attorney
that will be assigned to you...

Just think for a moment... should an attorney be
needed (which it will) who would you call at the
very moment in time... when one of the most
important things in your life time just occurred .
Just a normal Civil Lawyer will be of no help and
a general Defense Lawyer will be of little help if
they do not specialize in the 2nd Amendment Laws

I'm confused Most seniors I know have some kind of cognitive or physical reason for being on various types of medications. Does this seem like the population you want walking around with handguns. I realize you have the right to carry and I'd be the last one to begrudge you any right but please explain the need to carry. .
A couple months ago my wife & I came upon a fanny pack in the middle of a parking lot.We went through it trying to find the owner and during this process we found several hundred dollars ,and NYC Police badge, and a handgun.Long story short we returned everything to the owner and all turned out fine.The( elderly) gentleman didn't realize it had dropped from his vehicle. He was grateful that someone responsible had found it.This could have turned out tragic. Just saying!!!

Personally I not too concerned about the ones on medication, but more so the ones that should be on medication
