We have never been without a home phone. How has it worked out for you if you have done away with your home phone?

Yes, years ago. Don’t know anyone that still has an actual LAND LINE. The vendors, like Comcast/Xfinity, can offer you a home phone but it’s actually internet based. You won’t miss it.

The only time we ever miss it is when either my wife or I isn’t home and the person home temporarily misplaces their cell phone and we use the landline to call the cell phone to locate it. Besides that rare scenario, it’s never missed. Not a good enough reason to keep a landline.

We gave up the land line 20 years ago. Never missed it. It’s not needed.

When my elderly parents gave up the landline years ago I thought the end was near. Actually, their land line going into the house was damaged and needed a costly replacement so they gave it up and never an issue.

I have a landline. Was thinking of dumping it in favor of using my cell. However, I have Xfinity and because of the "triple play" they would only give me a $10 credit each month, not the full price I am now paying. So.....for $10 I will keep my landline.

Never used my landline after the days of "dialup internet" ended.

Depends on if your phone line is copper or Cable/fiber/VoIP .
One important difference is power outages. An old copper POTS line could often continue working when your home’s electricity failed. Cable/fiber/VoIP phones generally stop working when their modem/ONT loses power unless you have battery backup. Also, thre areCable/fiber/VoIP options like OOMA for a home phone. https://a.co/d/06wtl0Yg |

I don’t know anyone with a landline. We got rid of ours about 20 years ago.

We got rid of ours by porting the number from a Verizon phone line to a MagicJack (Ooma-like) service. We then turned the ringer off.
For a very minimal cost it allowed us to have a place for telemarketer calls to go. It also kept the number in our name for use with store loyalty programs. We gave them the number we never answered so their spam calls didn't bother us either. When we moved down here permanently we canceled that service and dropped that number entirely. We signed up for a free Google Voice number as a secondary number but really don't make much use of it.

When we moved to The Villages in 2007 we did not get a landline. I immediately enjoyed not having to answer the phone for my husband! He gets his calls, I get mine! I can’t imagine the phone ringing a hundred times a day for all the robocalls that come in. At least on my cell I can block them… And I never miss important calls while I am out. And I am cheap. If you already pay for a cell phone, the landline is an unnecessary expense.

Haven't had a home phone since 1999. Haven't wanted, or needed one, since then.
