I don't see where it tells me that I'll receive the $45 gift card anywhere... When I enter in cjslick, it shows the code applied for a $0.01 discount.

It looks like the $45 shop card will arrive by email that you take to customer service and they give you the card. Anyway, Costco sent me my membership #. So after lunch I will mosey over to Costco to buy two cases of Charmin to add to the two cases I already have at home. I hope they carry the mens version of Sydney Sweeney Jeans. I'm ready to shop till I drop....

Call Costco customer service and ask them about this deal.

I chatted with Costo support. It appears that the code is valid. When it shows a value of $.01 for the code entered, it means the code was accepted. I was told I would receive the email for the gift card about 2 weeks after I opened my account.

That's what I was told as well. So, it's like getting a membership to Costco for $20.

I went over the other day and took my "non-member" tour to help make up my mind whether to join or not. I found that there is very little that I would want to buy in quantity and the few things that I would buy would require buying another refrigerator or freezer which I don't have room for. I didn't compare TV or appliance prices as I don't think I'll have a need for any in the foreseeable future. After my tour I chose not to join and don't think I'll miss out on anything. What I would rather see is another large grocery store chain other than more Aldi's move into town.

Double dip opportunity. When you use the code on a regular membership Costco follows up with another offer of $50 gift card to upgrade to executive.

I haven't been to Costco yet but I will just because I'm curious to see what all the fuss is. But I did check, and it looks like they don't carry Cafe Bustelo in the vacuum-sealed bags, so I'd still have to buy it from BJ's or pay extra to get it from somewhere else. Gas at BJ's is less than 5 minutes away, gas from Costco is a 30-50-minute drive in each direction (car vs. golf cart). Costco also doesn't carry the swiss granola I like and I haven't ever seen it anywhere else. I don't really buy much in bulk but I get my membership fee back on the few things I do get plus gas savings from BJ's.
