Hello Villagers! I hope everybody is doing just fine.
I was hoping I could get some advice for my wonderful mother of mine. She use to work at the old square about 12 years ago or around there as a bartender for years and years. She moved up north to get closer to her family and recently her fiance passed away so she is looking to move back down here to help support her sons and new grand daughter ![]() She was operating her own catering side business up north but shes looking to do something else. As much as she loves to bartender, I tried convincing her to start another side business in TV where she could offer services for everybody to benefit from. She wants me to find her a job just so she could get by with renting an apartment, but honestly she deserves better. She just wants her sons. As much of a good person and hard worker she is, I want to try and get her to start up something in TV. Could you guys/gals give me some job ideas that is a high demand here in TV? New and old section. She LOVES TO CLEAN lol. I believe she was born with a broom in her hand ![]() Can anybody give me some ideas of businesses you would like to see MORE of around TV? Thanks everybody so much! |

Maybe it's time for her to retire and enjoy life. Perhaps that's the direction you should be trying to help her.

If all of her sons gave up all of their beer and marijuana (I think you posted that you um...partake) and really cut back, she may not have to support any of you. Maybe you didn't mean financially. I bet you meant emotionally.

There comes a time in life when sons and grand daughters need to look at what they can do to return the years they were taken care of. Unless there is some specific reasons, illness, disability, or other real hardship, then looking for a job for your mother to help support you doesn't sit to well with me. Especially if she is doing it so the son can buy frivolous things. And if she wants to work with people, let her do volunteer work that she might enjoy.

No comment and no judgments here. Cleaning your own home is one thing -- you can stop when you like, clean as you like. Cleaning for others is HARD, physical work. There's nothing easy about it and the older we get, the harder it is to do. Plus, she's going to need the supplies to get started and insurance and a bond. Ditto for almost any business she starts. I'd say that getting a job as a bartender with a bar back is her best choice. Standing on her feet all those hours won't be easy but it's less physically demanding for the jobs she could do here (cleaning, yard work, etc.) and no start up costs.

Im not talking about financially. By support I meant by just living here around them. Us.
we see her once maybe twice a year if we are lucky. And by a job she needs something so she can support her self... rent. Food. Etc. im just trying to get ideas on what she could offer or work at. |

Take good care of her. You only get one, and no one, NO ONE, will ever have your back the way she does. Give her a hug from me.

OK, sorry if we misunderstood your post about the word "support". Maybe she could get a job with the Villages, at a rec center, community watch, gate monitor or golf course ambassador. All have lots of people interaction. But none will pay enough to support her very well.
Don't over look the possibility of finding a way to help your mom out and pay her back for all the help she has given you over the years. Maybe you could get a second job or make some cut backs to help her. Probably both will be needed in order for her to live comfortably.
