Next Monday is the 15th and poster was trying to get an appointment for next week. They could've specified that appointments wouldn't be taken until the 15th. I can see how it could be confusing.

On that site I only see areas of special circumstances, such as health compromised. Did you sign up for one of these areas or am I missing something?

It probably let people make appts up to the point where all available shots were slotted for people.

Kind of like that Publix 7:00 AM nightmare where you wait and wait for the button to turn green.

Florida has a higher elderly population than any other state which is why the vaccine has taken a bit longer for younger people to be eligible.

Scroll down a little further, and there will be a form to fill out, under not yet eligible. I just finished it; grateful to be in line at 64 1/2.

I'm in NJ for 3 more weeks.

I have a friend here who is 66. He does dialysis 3 times a week. He does it with the same people every time, he's the youngest. Most are 75+.

His son is a first responder and he got called over to a local hospital because they had several no-shows. This was about a month ago. He got his first shot.

Last week he went to get his second shot and almost everyone in the line was in their 30s.

Until last week he was the only one in his dialysis group who had had either shot.

He about lost his mind that 30 somethings are getting vaxxed and 75 somethings can't get it.

My wife cannot get an appointment and she's over 65. She's been trying. Nothing is ever available.

We've just decided to wait until we get to Florida. We own two houses in TV, so hold the "get it in your own state" bs. You can't get it up here unless you know someone apparently.

I'm not going to be eligible until no one wants it any longer, so I'm just going to continue on IVM prophylaxis.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced on Monday that starting next week, all people age 60 and older will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

DeSantis made the announcement during a news conference on Monday in Tallahassee.

The lowered age requirements will begin next Monday, March 15.

DeSantis said that the eligibility will be across the board, at state run sites and retail pharmacy locations.

This is in addition to the existing requirements necessary for COVID-19 vaccine, which include: K-12 teachers, law enforcement officers and firefighters 50 years of age and older, and those deemed extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 by their physician.
I am thankful that it is not my job to make the decisions. The vaccines are right now in short supply relative to demand. How to decide? Any decision will be good for some and others will have valid objections as to why some other decision should be used.

We are over 70 have a LEGITIMATE pre-existing medical condition and after weeks of trying to win the lottery we finally won an appointment based on age, pre-existing condition did not even matter. We received our second shot last week.

Most of us have gotten either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine and now not really a surprise there is a new variant out of south Africa that neither is very effective against.
My view, perhaps, like out experience with the flu shots at best it will be partially effective.

We all, including me, demand perfect answers. Reality nothing is perfect.

Yes other states don't have the older age population of Florida. I'm glad DeSantis is making sure the older (and more vulnerable to covid) people in Florida get their shots first. Now he is lowering and will continue to lower the age until all the Florida citizens who want shots get them. I think it's right way to go.

I could have picked any day or time this week. I picked Thursday, got my appt, and sent them an email making sure it was legit. I’m not sure why they sent me the code, at the time I couldn’t even find the announcement from DeSantis.

I’m wondering if they finished their 65 and over list and just started on the next group. All appointment times were available.

Too bad that they won't just approve the pill (molnupiravir) that will kill COVID after one dose. Makes one wonder how they can live with themselves knowing that instead of putting so many folks through all this, they have had a pill for several years that may be effective at killing the infection. I say "may" because I don't know for sure that it is 100% effective, even though they are suggesting that it is.

After getting your second shot, you may wish that you had been turned down. Some folks are really getting some painful side effects.
Be patient and your turn will come. We worked on getting a slot for two weeks before we finally got ours. The day after, we started getting calls from all the places we had submitted our bid for an appointment. We are still getting calls. I have sent emails and calls to let them know that we have already received ours. Some responded with a thank you and that they are able to move some up in line. You do not have to be in your 60's to get an appointment IF/IF you have a doctor's form that stipulates that you have medical conditions. By the time some folks get their appointment, maybe there will be a pill available to cure the virus so you don't need/won't need to suffer the shots.
Don't get discouraged. But, don't expect an appointment to fall into your lap. You do have to work a bit to get your slot. If it means that much to you, then you shouldn't mind a bit of effort to get your place in line.
