It's an advantage to have your online payments come from your credit card giving you extra points, but it does mean that when compromised that you must redo everything. If you have a bank or broker/dealer like eTrade that does bill pay, then the credit card issue is solved. Plus you can make a payment of any kind to any person and the payment is mailed to them free of charge.

My cc that I use for monthly utility payments near leaves my home safe.
That way if it does get hacked, your working with one card and not 2 or 3.

One more thing......

When requesting a new card, make sure you get a new number.
When I get on my computer every morning, I take 5 minutes, log in on my 3 credit cards.
and check for illegal activity.

Also:

FREEZE your credit with all 3-credit reporting company's

Throw out all debit cards and don't use ATM, I hate them both.

Could it have been a purchase from a vending machine? I bought a bottle of soda at Millenia Mall in Orlando from one of those machines with my CC and I was billed from Italy.

Yea, I’ve had this happen but it wasn’t Russia that sent me a charge on my credit card!
