We pre-purchased cemetery vaults for our ashes. We both feel there should be somewhere that family members can go to remember the deceased in the family as we visit the tombs of our family ancestors from time to time.

Florida law does not regulate where cremation ashes can be spread. There may or may not be local rules about the spreading of ashes.

In my opinion, the common sense answer to the OP's question is to dispose of the ashes discreetly, avoid private property, and do not ask anyone for permission in advance.

I agree. As far as I know, this is not in the Bible and it is not a requirement of the Catholic religion.

I was told by someone at one time they were passing by a bunker near the BV cart path on one of Lopez's course and a group of people were scattering what appeared to be ashes into the bunker. I guess problem was about 6 months later all the sand in the bunkers were later replaced so who knows where this person is/was now!

You are partially correct. The Catholic church now allows a portion of the ashes to be separated from the rest for the family to keep.

I've identified two sand traps at our former country club for my friends to deposit my ashes. The logic is that, as I spent a great part of my time in them, they should be my final resting place.

I'm in the process of identifying the sand traps in The Villages which would also qualify. At the moment, I fear that there won't be enough ashes to go around!
