My reaction is, and will be, my possibly catching COVID has nothing to do with following daily stats. Your statement translates to "Oh, if I had only followed the daily stats and bit my nails to the quick over it, I wouldn't have gotten infected". See the nonsense? I'll take precautions and if I happen to get it, I'll follow my doctors orders.

Why, and for what earthly purpose, do you think daily data is useful and helpful to you?

Fear motivates. Keeps me from becoming too complacent and letting my guard down. But that’s just me.

Would daily auto accident stats remind you to drive more safely? Do food commercials remind you to eat? Do the endless drug commercials remind you to take your pills? Geez...so you have no personal will power? Come on...fear motivates is a sign of weakness.

Exactly , most people who scoff at
Covid 19 are just looking for attention . Pay no attention to
them . Their risky behavior will
catch up to them , I assure you of that .

I keep telling myself to cancel my subscription to The Daily Fun. Other than the schedule of local activities, it’s nothing more than a voice for the Developer with a few columnists who are far to one side politically, not worth reading. You don’t get much for a hundred bucks a year...and you have to lug all those piles of paper to the trash.

This is unreasonably harsh. Protecting ourselves from Covid is new and unusual. It's not remembering to eat. It's not remembering to take our medication. Reminders to remain disciplined in our efforts to protect ourselves and others is completely reasonable, and perhaps even needed.

Well a month ago the daily new rate was about 10,000 cases a day.

Lately it is about 2500.

Now do you understand?

I dropped the paper because of its political views. I would never have dropped it had it been a bipartisan paper.

Knowing the numbers of Covid cases locally matters to me. Yes I'll still take precautions no matter what it is, but it's similar to knowing the number of a Hurricane. A number 1 is bad but a 5 makes you VERY weary.

I don't read anything related to Covid.....I'm sick and tired of all the misinformation and garbage being in the news. And I don't read the ads on my laptop or any ads in the newspaper. I must be getting old and miserable. Although my grand daughter just says that I'm silly.

What I understand is as the numbers go up, I suspect more people around me can possibly infect me, no matter what protections I take when I have to go out. We'll see in 2-3 weeks if the infection rate in TVs goes up, remains about the same or goes down. I believe the Las Vegas betting gurus wouldn't touch this line with a 6 foot pole.

It reminds me of the daily kill numbers that were posted on the evening news on TV during the Vietnam war every day!
