I guess I am here all alone. But happy.

Waiting for my check from Gary.
I find a lot in the Sun interesting and useful. The puzzles are always good.

I do continue as a customer of the Sun mainly because of the articles about golf course conditions etc, and of course the puzzles. Daily Sun, It's time to styop the childish cartoons and get down to being a real newspaper. .

Did the Cherokee Ledger, through their op/ed pages, supposed current national events and no disclaimer otherwise...... bother to pretend that they were a real newspaper?

But hey, you're points are well taken.

Those of us who would like to see a higher standard from them, should pretty much just give it up.

Ummmm, yep...they certainly thought they were a REAL newspaper....they just focused on more local events..just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder; perhaps it is the same with "news". What news do you want to read about may not be the same news that I find interesting.

OK, fair enough.

Thanks for answering.

The Orlando paper and the Wall Street Journal, for sure. There is also a Sumter County weekly and a Leesburg daily.

Default Best post of the year!

With the shootings, tornados, bombings and other disasters happening it can really take a toll on us. I don't mean to sweep anything under the rug because in my own way I mourn for these people and their families. It truly is heartbreaking. But, I also need to know the good in the world and what's going on in this "bubble" we live in. I know that when my heart gets heavy with everything I see on news TV, that when I open up the Daily Sun I can warm my heart just a bit with all the good happening here. I like all of the positive "news" in the Sun.
I agree 100%! Best post of the year on TOTV. Thank you!

I like reading The Sun. If I want to read late breaking news I go to the Internet.

If you don't like it, DON'T subscribe to it.
America, love it or leave it? Is there no room for any criticism of the Sun's editorial policies?

Small town paper or not, I still think The Sun leaves a lot to be desired as far as journalistic standards, and its relentless, upbeat spin on everything The Villages/Morse is tiresome to me. But no, I don't subscribe.

Some may not agree or "get" my analogy but here it is anyway.
I do not like turnips. I love apples. I do not complain that turnips do not taste like apples. I do not ask turnips to be more like apples. I do not ask turnips growers to change to growing apples. I do not buy turnips. I buy apples.

Um.... Did you guys miss the last part of that blurb on the front that teased to a story on page 3? If you notice this happens daily. Usually the top part of the paper is all local with a small national story below refering to the rest inside.

That does happen a lot.

I think that it is a decent paper for what we do here. I think that detractors mostly don't like it's editorial page.

Thanks for your concern, but since I have the ability to criticize something without having a knee-jerk reaction...I feel fine now.

There is something that bothers me a lot. I have been receiving the Sun for years and years, BUT it disturbes me greatly that "everyday" there is a anti Democratic cartoon belittling President Obama. NEVER is there a cartoon poking fun at Republicans. This has always been offensive to me. I do continue as a customer of the Sun mainly because of the articles about golf course conditions etc, and of course the puzzles. Daily Sun, It's time to styop the childish cartoons and get down to being a real newspaper. Also it's time to dump Ann Coulter.
The Orlando Sentinel is equally slanted in the other direction. And so is th Tampa Bay paper.

Almost all papers have a slant and they aren't obvious to the reader until they start reading a paper that doesn't agree with their politics.

USA Today is unslanted if I remember correctly..

I am sure, given the chance, they would apologize to you folks for not measuring up to your obvious lofty standards.

Why you folks have this need to criticize and pan something you do not have any obligation to buy or read is a bit strange to me.
Amen

Well, they did themselves proud this morning, albeit a day late.
