It is normal but most storms only last a short time and you can watch a recorded show or watch a non-HD station. The show comes right back on after the heavy rain stops.

It's a good idea to have a DVR when you have Direct TV. That way watching a recorded show is possible. For us it hasn't been an issue. For those who like to watch football games having the TV go out in the middle of the game may be an issue. We have enjoyed Direct TV for 5-6 years now and would never switch.

Smile Hardly Notice

We have DirectTV and hardly notice any outages. It is so good the slight outages are more than worth it. Actually the interruptions to regular programs by the channel warning of a thunderstorm 5 counties away is more frustration.

Now you know one of the reasons it is less expensive.......most people accept the interruptions to save money, those that don't go looking for something more reliable. It's what keeps everyone in business and competition alive.

We had many interruptions from equipment failure with Comcast than we have ever had with Direct TV. We don't keep it because it is less expensive we keep it because we like it much better.

I tell them I don't know how to connect it so they send a repair tech almost always the next day.

Agree! We have very few interruptions than we had with Comcast in Pittsburgh. Love DirecTV and have always found their customer service to be great. I can't speak for billing problems, because we've never had them in the decade we've been with them.

I think almost anything would be an improvement over Comcast. When we purchased one of our criteria was to be in a place where Comcast was not the only provider.....so I am sure you like Direct TV much better.

That's why we have Comcast; but, oh, for some cable competition.

If you are watching some thing on HD switch to the regular channel not HD and your picture will probably come back

So with DirecTV what is the "regular"channel for NBC? I watch it on Channel 2 and its HD. I thought the local channels - 2, 6, 9, and 35 were all HD. What are the alternatives?

We have Comcast cable in The Villages and in NJ. When it storms, we don't lose our TV picture and the picture is great. Had Direct TV satellite for several years in south Florida and again in NJ for several more years. Was so tired of losing the signal when weather was storming and sometimes even threatening. So glad to have a reliable signal with Comcast cable now.
