We had GM dealer in Phoenix that we liked. They put a board up in the showroom with the price of every car they had in stock. Salesmen sat at their desk and when you have found one that you want to look at you take the card to them and they have it brought out for you. If you want to buy it, they filled out the paper work and you paid the price on the board. No, gimmicks, no dealing, just a fair price.
Vast majority have made car buying a very unpleasance experience. Bought one car since we are here and the majority of showrooms we will never go back too.

Just had my oil changed, my guy came out with keys and a estimate to buy my 2018 Buick (29,284 miles) for $9,000 less than I paid for it. Does make you take a pause

The real pause comes when you look for a replacement and see how much you will have to overpay!

My view perhaps like the stock market or antiques, what you paid for something almost doesn't matter. What is it worth today. Prices for cars, new and used have skyrocketed since last time I bought a car. Gas? Gas is higher than it was last week. Fortunately we are retired and I no longer drive much. Heck our golf cart holds 6 gallons. That is $30 for a fill up on a golf cart.

Completely agree. We have stopped buying new for that reason.
