We had our design meeting on Monday of this week in TV.
Excellent experience. We met with design team at 9am on Monday and by 11:15am, we had made all of our choices and had been driven around on a golf cart to different models to see exactly how our choice looked in the models. While going over our options we asked to Opt out of the Washer, dryer, Refrig, dishwasher and range. We had to take the microwave that was vented in to the kitchen. We received credit for the basic appliances that would have been included in the build package. Also opted out of all window coverings. We had a 3pm appt that afternoon to go to the Granite Place in Wildwood and actually pick out the 2 slabs of granite that would be used in the home. At 10am Tuesday we again met with the design team and went over all of our choices and received drawings of the home with stretches etc; Also received $ figures and a 11/12/2012 Closing date. Next stop, our realtor to get copies of the contracts and submit a check for 20% of the cost. We will be purchasing SamSung Appliances for the home from Lowes with free delivery and have already contracted with 48 hr blinds to provide the plantation shutters and blinds. All in all, a very good experience. If anyone needs additional info, feel free to PM. JackZ

Are all the microwaves vented into the kitchen ? I REALLY want one vented to the outside - is that an option ?

Congratulations on your design meeting and SMART DECISION re the appliances. It wasn't made clear to us (if it was mentioned at all, and we don't think it was) that we could opt out of the appliances and get our own. Oh, how we wish we had! Also, we bought the blinds (which were made by 48 Hour Blinds) and they're fine, but we fell in love with plantation shutters and are having them installed in October. If hindsight were foresight...

How low end or bad are the appliances in the standard package?
U can get $1650 in credit for the delete, (stove, fridge & DW) what can you buy in better models for about that money or a little more money or can't you?

We've bought a prebuilt and are waiting on swap out estimates...we gave her the models of exactly what we want and it will be a credit/ pay the difference scenerio. Sure it will be much better than buying new as we figured $3600-$4000 on new appliances depending on where we bought them. So getting something toward that is a plus

Not sure if I used the right terminology about venting but am sure that you have to take the microwave in your build.

You are correct re the $1650 Credit for the appliances. The basic package, Designer Home Appliance Package A, is the 21 Cu Ft Top Freezer Refrig, 5.3 cut ft Capacity Electric Range a basic diswasher. You have to keep the Miccrowave Range Hood Combination. I am sure you could get the identical items cheaper via Lowes, Best Buy or Appliance direct with free delivery. We did some research and decided on upgrading to Sam Sung Appliances which were more money but I believe the better investment. Good luck in you choices. Jack

Does anyone know if the wall ovens are a standard size? I was thinking of opting out of the appliances as well and also going with Samsung or LG. I have Samsung now in my home and am very pleased with them. My meeting is in just a few days and I am torn about upgrading and trading out in a few years, or just opting out and getting something else when I close. Thanks for your ideas!!

We opted out of the refrigerator and dishwasher. Along with having to keep the microwave, we also had to go with the wall oven and cooktop that came with the package since they were built-ins. The Whirlpool single wall oven is 5.0Cu Ft and described as the largest capacity available in the literature we received from the design meeting. The Model Number is COS92EC0A. The electric cooktop is 30" and the model number is G7CE3034X. Hope that helps.
