Today I was driving west towards The Villages on 466a from Leesburg. There is a big new "Welcome to the Villages" wall sign about a mile EAST of Continental CC with a lot of land being cleared. Is that where Morse Blvd is going to cross 466a?

You were driving west towards The Villages on 44, not 466A. Morse Blvd. will come out a little west of that sign. It will come out where CR 468 meets 44. It's clearly shown on a 2013 $5 map.

The developer has a contract on about 1 square mile (about 640 acres) south of 466A, across from Burke's BBQ. In addition to this, the developer already owns about 600 acres immediately south of this. This can be seen on the Lake County GIS website. So, the developer has a total of approximately 1,200 acres which appear to be potentially used for more of the "magic formula" of golf courses, rec centers and homes. The west edge of this meets the east edge of property already owned by TV and planned for development. So, imagine a road like Hillsborough Trail continuing eastward from the future southern extension of Morse Blvd., and it's easy to see how this can be tied together. What is unique about this 1,000 acres is that it's all in Lake County, not Sumter County. My gut tells me that TV lawyers and Lake County lawyers are negotiating how to create a Community Development District in Lake County. Last edited by champion6; 08-25-2013 at 02:31 PM. On the new TV map this area is already shown as a golf course. May be a done deal.

So much for the happy dance of values going up after any impending build out. We bought now because the sales office lead us to believe this was the end of the road for new homes. Still thrilled to have bought, but don't retire for two more years. We might have waited if we thought another section was opening.

There is a new online newspaper called *****************. They have had two articles about the developer buying land across from the new bbq place by Micro Racetrack Road.
"Fruitland Park officials said Thursday night that The Villages wants to move “ridiculously fast” on its purchase of property on County Road 466A adjacent to the new Colony Care Center." The newspaper can be read here. http://www.**************.com/village...erty-purchase/ I know this is a legitimate newspaper because the owner sought help from SCORE when setting it up, and has gotten sponsors. I do not know, however, where the owner's facts are coming from. |

You can get one for $5 from the LSL service center. It shows the entire villages and future areas to be built. It's nice to have.

Remains to be seen as to what happens. Money talks and both Fruitland Park and Lake County both need money. Maybe then you'll see 466A widened to Rte. 441.

Is there a 12 step program for those who can't stop buying land?

I'm sort of at a loss here why this is a bad thing. The builder had a good idea when The Villages was first started and it took off. Now he has the funds to buy more land and build on it. Why is this a bad thing? We all thought it was a good idea and drank the kool aid when we bought here and this gives more people the opportunity to do the same.
