Sumter = 4.192 mills
Lake = 6.085 mills
Marion = 6.320 mills

Those mills equal approximately half (several thousand dollars) of a tax bill.
Re: the school taxes - again. I value education. I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is, as the saying goes. I am willing to pay for it. I have no children, no grandchildren, no nieces or nephews. But I value education. I value the fact that the people we elect to government seats are educated. I value the fact that my doctor is educated. I value the idea that EVERYONE should have the same rights and access to quality education, because those kids will some day become our doctors, our President, our Mayors, our Chief of Police, our lawyers, our architects.

I value all that also, but I also realize we are paying for something we are totally disqualified and theoretically banned from accessing.

I had my public school education, and every taxpayer in my state helped to pay for it. Even seniors and people who had no children. Education is something you pay forward. We will benefit from it, because those kids are our future.
