MGH....you don't need your wallet. Take the ID out. there are little "pockets" available on amazon to attach to the back of your phone to hold such things an an ID, DL, money. Maybe it's time you bought one? They come 3 to a pack in different colors. No excuses.

It was a stock name. I don’t hang around dog parks. Has that one been taken out of circulation

Now *that* seems like a security risk! I've seen those and have younger relatives that use them. I'm not comfortable putting my DL and CC in a detachable pocket that sits on tables at restaurants, bars, and pools. To each their own, just not something I am comfortable with.

It’s called Photos. The cameras are so good that the bar code can be scanned.

I haven't seen it, have only heard stories about it, and can't find any mention of it in my Villages app but it just might be true.
Just put a card holder that are given away all the time on the back of your phone and put your real Villages ID in the card holder. No Problems!

The card holder could fall off
Someone could take the card holder off
Someone could take the card out of the holder
The card holder or the cards within it block the wireless charging capability

It is a viable solution for some but there are drawbacks.

I never made it past the first sentence "While at the pool on Sunday with my family the attendant came around to check ID's" because I thought this was an April Fools Day joke!

Most gyms don’t even confirm if the fob scanned matches the user. They at least make an effort at the pools.

Bring the card, stop trying to bend the rules.

Man or woman put your towel in a tote bag, along with your phone and ID. Problem solved.

And airlines are willing to accept a digital boarding pass because the traveler already was required to show a physical ID to a TSA agent when they went through security.
I just tell the ID checker my Villages ID number, she enters it into the scanner, and an image of my ID card appears on the scanner with my picture. Works well energy time at the sports pool. Does not work at the golf course, those folks are still in the paper and pencil age. That’s life.

Wait....so you just give the attendant your ‘digits’ and the OP gave hers digitally....and only one of you were questioned on the practice? Gotta love uniformity in action

No matter how good a system they design, if the Villages employees don't do their job, it will not work.

I am usually not a rule breaker, but I don't like to bring my wallet (where my ID is located) to the pool. Most everyone has a cell phone these days. Airports have no issue when people put there boarding pass on their cell phone. It is time to get out of the 1980's.
The rules on the Villages site state you must have an ID card....There is no mention of an alternative. In fact for guests it states: Guests are required to carry their original Guest ID card when using a District amenity facility even if accompanied by a resident. I cannot see why they would treat a resident any different than a guest.
I would suggest if you want to change this rule petition the villages to allow for an ID within an app to be acceptable.

This isn't' too far fetched (Fido pun). A bar in Barcelona did this about 20 years ago to its VIP members, a rice sized chip was implanted in their upper arm. They used it for admittance and billing.

I think I've also seen it in several movies and read about it on the internet so I'm sure its true.
