My 86 year old parents won't give up Directv, no matter how much I try to show them that they can stream pretty much anything they want for less money, in some cases free with an antenna/free Roku streams. People just get locked into habits.

Not to pick on older folks, at all. My 20 something kids were astounded when I told them you could put up an antenna and get TV for free. "Is that legal?" they would say.

Yup, it is.

Reminds me of when my parents rented their dial phones from the phone company for 3 dollars per month. They wouldn't believe me that they could buy a phone at the store for $15. They said that it must be junk.

Stream! Do you have a smart TV? There are several Streaming services. All much better that Direct or Dish.

All 3 are available over the air from Orlando stations.

Is there a data cap with Xfinity Internet down there?

Up here in the Northeast we have unlimited Data With Xfinity with no throttling after a certain amount of data is used.

Sure like to keep that when we move

No need to start their own tv station. If you add Pluto TV to your Roku or firestick there are channels dedicated to old tv shows. https://d32rzbb554tqz0.cloudfront.ne...ies/jester.gif

The data cap I believe is not there only if you have the fastest speed. With lower speeds there is a cap. And depending on where you are in the Villages, you may have more than one choice for internet service (and no data cap).

The free website "suppose.tv" is a good source to price and compare all streaming services. They will sort and price them based on the channels you want.

It offers 85 channels, local stations, unlimited DVR recordings, sports, and movies for half of what I am paying now without sacrificing the channels I watch regularly.
We have DirecTV streaming. No dish.

Default Plus One for YouTube TV

No wires, dishes, boxes and lots of good channels. 69.95 month.
Had Fubo for a while but it has a lot of sports channels that I wasn’t interested in.

I am currently running in parallel, Apple TV with Direct TV Stream and Comcast/Xfinity cable.
I am 80% on my way to cancelling comcast programming.....keeping their internet if priced right.

Is there a minimum internet speed required for streaming.

Hahahaha..... I'm pretty sure it has to do with the lack of audience watching those two C grade networks.
