Default Just Asking

I am doing research for a book based on The Villages, just using the Villages as background information, not another Leisureville, more of a Danielle Steel
writer

see many of you use FB and Skype, how many of you use Twitter, how to videos on YouTube, understand the concept the younger generation call "branding" and how many of you with small businesses use social media for your business?

Here is a nice video of Mark Zuckerberg today making a new announcement, he certainly isn't as he is depicted in the movie "The Social Network", but then again I did attend a conference where Bill Gates spoke to many of us who were part of his Intel Teach to the Future program, he was less than comfortable then and appears to be more comfortable now

for those of you who were concerned about privacy they seem to be taking steps to provide more privacy and they are changing the way we communicate with each other face to face and online

I love Skype. Our granddaughter spent the spring quarter in Salzburg, Austria and it was wonderful seeing her dear face every day even though she was across the pond. I marvel that it can be FREE to do this!!

There is that possibility. I have a friend who sells on ebay and she has mailed hundreds of packages with her return address and ebay shows her phone number too. Hasn't had any identity theft....yet.

In this era of internet communication, you can hardly hide. You are on some list here or there that has internet connections.

However, when I went to a sales meeting held in Porto Rico, someone at the hotel stole my credit card information and used it. In fact stole several of the attendees credit card numbers and used them.

I post on Facebook. I really don't like it because there is no...back and forth like on this forum.

Until the social sites get more security I will never subscribe to them. Period.

There are too many stories of hijacked IDs, info, etc. It is not a secure environment.

I love Facebook. I have reconnected with classmates that I haven't "talked" to since my graduation from High School in '64. Love seeing their faces again---talking about old times, etc. I think facebook is a great social network. My High School now has a group and members are posting old pictures and this brings back so many memories.

Absolutely!!! Facebook is a great way to connect with friends and if there's something one wants to post for everyone to see...what better place to put it. Of course I've got my security tabs in place so only my "friends" can view my wall and profile etc.
I originally signed up to be in touch with the kids and grandkids...it was easy to sign up (even for one whose not too technically inclined). I have to wonder why so many folks I know are reluctant to sign up on Facebook!

I use FB everyday. Great tool for keeping in touch with friends, old and new. Even though I've never been to TV, I have many of you on my friends list which makes it convenient when I think of a question. Excited about our 1st trip to TV in Jan!!!

Based on the fact that we are working overseas in Rome, Italy now we depend on technology to keep in touch with friends and family in the USA.

My wife uses facebook on a daily basis and enjoys keeping up with all.

We use skype weekly to watch the grandchildren grow during our absence and to just have some face to face time with friends and family.

We have a vonage phone which provides an Orlando 407 area code and works through our computer which allows friends and family to make a local call to a 407 area code and ring our phone in Rome.

The first two, facebook and Skype are free and vonage with unlimited domestic and international calling costs us less than $30 per month.

I love FB for the little things. Like the comments my family and friends make during and following a TV show such as American Idol. There's this little back and forth reminiscent of what might occur if we were all together on the couch watching together again.
