It does sound like the installation might not have been done well but you may also have just gotten more powerful gusts. You will need an expert to evaluate.

As Warranty is closed and insurance is hard to contact, I purchased three bundles of shingles in Washington to have on my return to TV on Wednesday. When I was younger, I put on many roof shingles. I just hope I remember how and don't fall off the roof trying something a haven't done for 40 years. Not the correct or approved color but it will do for a temporary fix

OK, let's try this again.
This is what I posted 5 minutes ago and it has since been deleted---if it was intentional I have a problem with that--this is word for word Here's my tale of woe: Home warranty----, just to find out who my original roofer was,--all circuits busy except once at 10:30 AM when the message stated "call back during normal business hours. Original Builder---the number TV information gave me is a wrong number and cannot find them on-line Villages Insurance----they just gave me the number to ASI claims ASI claims----continuous voice menu that leads to 24 rings then a disconnect. My house is only 4 years old, it has about 40 sq. ft. of roof exposed, and I have no ability to put up a tarp on my own. I am open to suggestions, but I'll probably just have to find a good roofer (if I can) and deal with the insurance bozos later, even if I have to pay out of pocket. |

GE, I can't get to my irrigation box as I have furniture piled up in the corner, but I think the original builders name is located inside your irrigation control box. Hopefully with a phone number. Or on the inside of the breaker panel door. |

I think the lesson learned is to keep a couple of rolls of roofing felt in the garage for this kind of emergency. I doubt any is available now, but when the stores get restocked I will be getting some. That should keep the water out until permanent fixes can be made.

Just to add to one of the posts above about poor installation of the shingles. I was speaking with a roofer a while back and he said that many contractors use nail guns to speed up the installation time. But, many of their employees do not adjust the amount of air per shot and OVER drive the nail into the roof, sometimes punching the nail head partially through the shingle. A strong wind comes along and if the tar/glue is not adhered enough for some reason or just not strong enough, the nail pops right through the already damaged shingle and the shingle flies off. When I installed shingles on my large shed up North, I used a gun and had it adjusted to the point where I frequently had to go back down the row with a hammer and tap the nail head flat to the surface of the tile. If the shingle that came off, shows holes where the nail popped through, I bet someone had already damaged the shingle when they drove the nail in. I understand that there are different types of roofing nails too. Just my opinion as well as my two cents. I am not an expert.

When you closed on your new house, didn't the closing office provide you with signed affidavits from all the subcontractors who worked on your house (Final Release of Lien)? If so, the name of the roofer would be on that list.
