It was a pleasant conversation....one I have had many times. Then he used his CC for his payment. I almost fell over! I just looked at him and smiled.

He nodded and knew that I recognized the name. With a smile, he thanked me for the conversation. He was so glad to hear the good things. Especially since I was candid and honest...not knowing who he was!

Very nice man! I was impressed that he did not act as if he "owned" the place....even though he does! LOL
great story!

Just wondering...

Dirigo

Just over three weeks to our visit!
I knew someone would nail me on this...lol.

When I first started looking at houses on line, I was struck by the fact that most but the high priced had rinkydink light fixtures, almost all of the same kind, mostly brass, which was out of fashion, and there were complaints about it here. Now you see more variety, most in silver, instead of brass, really upgraded. There was some discussion about The Villages furniture stores, although wonderful and very quick to provide unheard of services, like a loaner bed for incoming new residents in a new home, still didn't have a lot of variety of lower priced furniture. Now that is changed with Southern Lifestyles in Spanish Springs changing to "something direct" with lines like Broyhill and Flexsteel that are more affordable, but still very nice. When there was a lot of conflict and angst on TOTV over a street being made unavailable except to residents and others not allowed to cut through, there was a very large meeting about it at Colony Cottage, and the street was once again available for all to use. (Not sure that is a valid argument, maybe that is how issues are handled all of the time). There was discussion of the different names for "The Village Watch" in different counties and now they are all called the same thing.

Can someone help me here? I know that there have been discussions about rats near a pool and pool furniture in need of updating and those things have been resolved apparently. Maybe by other means, and not just because TOTV'rs were talking about it.

On the minus side, there was a huge outcry on TOTV about the buffalo being removed from their enclosure, never to return, and yet they still left for greener pastures. (There was a safety issue, to be fair)

Chels and Bare,

That is such a wonderful way of putting it.

You two (and many others) are what The Villages is about!

Thank you. You keep my dream of living there going.

Default I've met them

I've had the pleasure of meeting Harold Schwartz many years back when he was still shaking hands with everyone.

I also met Gary Morse some time ago in Miami. I recognized the Cracker Bay and walked over to get a better look just when Gary and Rusty were leaving. I stopped and introduced myself; told him I lived in his "friendly hometown". He seemed shy and was surprised I recognized him. Good looking man! He just turned 72 last month (December).

I've also met Mark, Jennifer and Tracy a number of times.

Haven't met M'lissa yet.

Skip

PS: Go the Citizen First Bank and ask for a 2009 calendar. There are some great shots of Harold and Orange Blossom Gardens in there. It's a great photo history on The Villages. Hurry, they only printed 15,000 of them.

I heard, from a reliable source, that the Morse family built and gave the library to The Villages. If so, another kind gesture from a remarkable family!

Peggy, we do kibitz from time to time on TOTV about little issues. But .. I'd be willing to bet that the satisfaction level of residents of TV is 95%. I never thought my "golden" years could be this enjoyable. TV really is a dream come true for most of us.

I hope you're able to move here soon. It is the best decision we ever made.
