We are not dog haters and have recently lost our dog.
Why can't folks have the dog poop on their own lawn and then go for walk.
We had a poop place in our backyard for our dog to poop.
I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on this.
Hmmmm .... this subject never comes up.

If the dog owners were truly friendly enough to earn that phrase, they'd have their pets do their business on their own property first, and THEN take them for a walk.

Most of my neighbors, including pet owners, agree that this seems to be mostly a Villages phenomenon. Where we all came from, in different parts of the country and a few from other countries, dogs /usually/ did their thing on their owner's lawn and THEN went for walks. A dog pooping on a neighbor's lawn was considered an accident, and cleaned up. No one took their dogs for walk -specifically- to get them to poop on someone else's lawn. It just didn't happen.

Did the "crazies" only react when dogs or their owners trespasses on their lawns? If so, maybe they weren't crazy, just angry at having their yard used repeatedly as a public toilet for dogs.

You may not be able to choose the time, but you can choose the spot. If you keep the dog off the neighbors lawn, the dog will never poop there.

Agree with you. Some of those dog owners that disrespect their neighbors aren't being friendly.

It all comes down to routine. My sister takes her 2 little dogs to her property side of the house and they usually go then. If your routine is to walk your dog to go poop on some neighbor's lawn then that's what they're used to. Poop schedule and routine go together. My pops used to take the newspaper into the bathroom with him every morning. That was his routine. Mine became having to hold my breath and get the sports section out as fast as I could. Thank god for the interwebz.

Hmmm… I wonder why these dogs don’t poop and pee in the house whenever they feel the need?

Various dogs poop and pee on our yard. Usually the same ones. Our dog does not poop and pee on demand so he does crap and **** on various places. Usually different places according to where we go on these walks.

I once had a dog named "Stay". I would say "come here, Stay". But, that dog was impossible to train.

Opening a can of worms…

It is easy to keep your dog in the street while you walk until you get to an area where you can get into common areas. If the dog can’t make it then they poop in the street. As the OP said though, we start in our own yard.

Scent marks are the neon signs for doggie restrooms. Picking up after your dog leaves the scent mark behind to attract those who come after to add their own scents.

Oh, no! Some don't want to see this because it doesn't fit their narrative.

True. If my dog poops there and I clean it up there will still be some scent there. Probably why so many dogs poop and pee in our yard but they almost always pick it up. Our pooch pees in his yard on his other outings unless we go to the dog park and he pees a great deal on many things. Sometimes only a drop or so but he does feel the need to pee on any other places other pooches have peddled.
