I am shocked at how often I see someone having their dog run next to a golf cart and it is an accident waiting to happen.
It’s a shame that people don’t realize how often dogs trip or stumble. As a lifetime dog owner I can attest that dogs stumble quite often. If poor doggie stumbles in direction of cart it most likely gets run over.

You sound nice......

I'd love a dog but I have mobility issues (have a rollator) so I KNOW the responsibility it would take to have one. I've seen people walking their dogs and the human is elderly and seems to have issues walking. I've also seen people in their carts who allow their poochie to run beside it as well. IF you have a pet realize they have a life expectancy and with that, they also can have health issues. So will YOU outlive the pet?? This can be for house-cats AND dogs!! IF you see someone like the OP observed---try to have a non-combative discussion with the person. I agree with what most folks have stated on here!!

I've seen it a bunch of times. Mostly it was on the golf cart path and grassy areas that split the golf course between Belle meade Cir and the Mulberry rec center. In fact, a lady heading south on the path was letting her dog run loose alongside her cart. I was going north on my recumbent trike at about 15 miles an hour, coming down a hill, and the dog turned like it was going to run right at me. If I would've hit it both of us would've probably been injured, probably the dog more than me.

I saw a couple in their cart turning a curve, the wife had her pup in her lap and the pup was accidentally thrown against the curb and killed instantly.
Heartbreaking 💔.

Some people shouldn’t own pets. This is very sad.

How sad. I also feel bad that a dog has no option to stop or slow down when running on leash by the golf cart. Seems cruel to me. .

Maybe, just Maybe, you aren't paying attention. I've only been here 11 years, yet I have seen it many times.

I see it all the time. There is a lady in our neighborhood that rides in the street and has her dog run next to her barely being able to kerp up
More than once I wanted to tell her to stop but I admit I'm too chicken. I'm not even sure how we can report these people. To me it's animal cruelty

I feel the same. If someone is that cruel to their pets how they going to react to a stranger pointing out how cruel they are? Not even nicely.

Sorry to hear that. Dogs getting hurt or killed by cars or golf carts were the chief cause of death by accident among those pooches lost to us at the local dog park . Old age was the usual reason .

Default Lazy

Too lazy to walk the dog properly. Hire a dog walker. Do the right thing for these wonderful animals.
