Our J.W.were always women as well and they were NOT as gentle and nice as the Mormons who were polite and friendly college aged boys.

They were downright pushy....the J.W. Again, we don't go around ringing people's doorbells, etc. and there should be a law.

I had thought of asking them if they wanted their astrology chart done but hesitated to insult them.

Finally, after a few years, I did do just that and it worked !!!!!!!!!

I told them I had professional astrology software and would they like their charts done & began naming the various fees.........well, you'd think I grew three heads the way they beat it off the front porch.

Come to think of it, they have never returned.

LOL Barbara I remember one of the gals I worked with had Jehovahs come to the door and she nearly killed herself running to hide! Black and bruise for days.

The funny thing is I can see the door from wherever I'm sitting (living, dining) here, unless its a neighbor or someone like the police etc...I will sit and just look at them! Boy that confuses em. ::giggles:: Also have no soliciting on the door to keep the door to door sales away. Oh in todays paper there is an "official" no soliciting piece of paper you can tape to your door. It said it was back "by popular demand"!

I thought The Villages had a "no solicitation" rule. Am I wrong?

The town in Iowa I grew up in (Dubuque) was heavily Catholic back in the 1960's-1970's. When the Jehovah Witnesses would travel the neighborhood, my mom would make us all hide in the back bedroom with the door closed, no talking allowed, until they left the neighborhood. Maybe she thought they would climb through the windows if they heard us talking in the house .

Just start talking politics to them. Tell them your soliciting their vote for the new "All work done free" party and would they sign your petition. Follow them down the walk way asking for their vote.

Do not see a problem. Just say you are of another faith and are not interested.Do not see why people have to be mean to them.Laughing at someone because they have strong faith and want to express it.I would not do that.

I agree. A polite "no thank you" has ALWAYS worked for me. There is NO reason to be mean.

By law you cannot restrict door to door activities regarding politics or religion.
I personally wonder why anyone would open their doors to strangers just because they are knocking or ringing the doorbell. Just yell out to them: "Go Away." That'll do it.
