Default Double check your Publix receipts

I bought 15 items this morning at Publix and got charged for 18. One was a BOGO that I caught as it was being scanned by the cashier. He looked up the item and said it wasn't on sale. I showed him the current ad and told him the shelf showed the sale so he gave me credit. The other two items were scanned twice and I didn't notice until I was almost out the door. Customer service desk gave me credit for those. Groceries are already expensive. Double check your receipt to make sure you're not paying for stuff you didn't buy.

That's why I always prefer self-checkout: I scan each item ... and few times I saw a price that I did not expect.

I have been going to Publixes since 1996 and have found them usually to be fair and honest in their dealings.

But with today's prices....

I disagree.
If I'm paying their prices and a service charge for using a credit card, they better check out my groceries for me with a smile.

Publix doesn't charge a service fee to use a credit card.

This is according to AI, and also from Jill at the Colony Plaza Publix customer service desk. There is no fee to use a credit card.

Publix is one of the most honest stores where I have ever shopped. If you are going to check all of your receipts, will you return the money when you find that they made a mistake in your favor?

You are not paying "service charge" for using a credit card.

(If anything, if you have a rebate credit card, like me, you get 2% rebate for your purchases at Publix).

It's your choice: if someone else is scanning your items, they may make a mistake, and you can't even see the prices as the items are being added.

Yeah there's no service charge for using plastic instead of cash. I prefer self-checkout because most of the time, I'm faster than the cashiers. I worked there, and in all their training, they never taught the concept of "sense of urgency." If you've ever waited in line for a sub from them you'd see that demonstrated very clearly.

You can see the prices at the Southern Trace store.

Self checkout is great, but I don’t understand why you’re not allowed to pay cash at the self checkout specially when Publix has to pay some sort of service fee for people using credit cards doesn’t make sense to me.

Personally, I think Publix would lose money if they had to equip every self service machine to accept cash and to provide change. I think most people use a credit or debit card to pay. There are actually two ways to avoid using a credit card. One is to not use the self service line, and the other is to buy Publix gift cards in advance with cash. There is no service charge for gift cards.

Yes, they should have a small child living inside each self-checkout machine so that they can make your change if you want to pay with cash.

IMHO using self checkout means usually no wait, is quicker, more efficient, no dirty strangers hands/germs on everything I buy, and I can watch the prices as I scan. For me this the better shopping experience.

Believe it ir not yes I would tell them if they hadn’t charged me. Found Tommy Hilfinger hadn’t charged me for a sweater for my brother & I told them. I totally believe in honesty when your still close to store

Most cahiers / human scanners are very fast, so it's hard to spot when they double scan or the price is not what you expected.

It's Ok if you rather trust someone else to do all the scanning and charges for you.

I prefer to scan and pack the way I want it, with no chance for mistakes.

Have a nice day.
