I think this fight was fueled by the political forum some time ago. I think that it is very hard as we age, and become convinced of our views to have the patience and acceptance for others who do not agree with us in politics and in religion. I think I become impatient when a spade is not called a spade.

I believe that you are taking each other on, some of you, on this thread because of old wounds from that old political forum.

You cannot make a liberal think like a conservative and you can't make a conservative think like a liberal.

I think there is some hope in changing a moderate's mind.

There are many residents of The Villages who take Prozac, Xanax, and other types of mind-altering drugs, specifically designed to improve mood and lift depression. Many people take some type of prescription pain meds that caution driving. We don't sit in judgment of them, nor should we. As long as people drink responsibly and don't cause harm to others, I think life is too short to be judgmental.

Thank you and that is exactly what I said and do. I occasionally have a couple bud lights and take offense to indications toward mental illness for doing so. That's crazy. LOL just trying to keep it light.

Forgive me, Bucco, but I don't understand why it should be OK to drink but not OK to be light hearted about it. You can pretty much pick a subject and someone will have an experience that was negative. As another poster said (Gracie, I think), we're all adults. We can drink if we want, and we can joke around about it. There was no harm intended from Golfingnut, I'm sure. None of the first posters meant to bring up old hurts, but people can't be expected to walk on egg shells. I maintain when the tone of the thread was obviously lighthearted, it would have been best to walk away and let the members who were enjoying it have at it.

As an alternative, anyone could start their own thread about the perils of drinking, if one feels that strongly about it.

Yes. You nailed it. Thank you. I absolutely meant it to be a fun conversation. Gracie also opened my eyes to the why factor. I think she is spot on with her post. I drink my two beers and I will not be ashamed of myself for doing so.

I understood the OP, and how he feels differently after a few drinks.

A poster, not me, had a problem because of some personal things, NOT WITH DRINKING...AGAIN...NOT WITH DRINKING, but with frivolity connected with the ..and I will not use a descriptive word..but with the affects on your mind

I posted to support that post.

At that point I think it is done except for some reason folks began to mock posts like that...no fun, lecturing, etc.

I made the mistake of responding because I object to being mocked and being called judgemental, etc when that never happened.

I never said any harm was intended at any time,nor even implied that.

That is pretty much all there is.

I never said that everything can be avoided by eating a healthy diet. But a high percentage of degenerative diseases ARE caused by poor lifestyle habits. Those who doubt this are very likely already taking medications for some of these health issues.

Relax and enjoy a few more things. We all don't have forever to live.
