Default Driving to the TV after hurricane.

Normal route from Indy is ..Indy- Nashville- Chattanoga- and 75 to Atlanta and TV…
Is that still a good route or should I be looking at going through Birmingham to get to 10 and catch 75 to TV? Understanding we may be getting another dose.

Our family is leaving 5am Saturday, returning to Greenville NC. Can give you some information on their route Sunday. Probably not all info for you need but some is better than nothing. Their Power, cell towers and water is still out, so they will need to fuel up about 2 hours from home.

Once you reach Nashville, I think it would be better to take 65 down to Birmingham and Montgomery and reach 10. Then, as you said, go east on 10 and catch 75.

Is that the same as the Traffic layer or do I need to learn a new feature?

It would also be good to check GasBuddy. Look at the price of gas and click on a station to see the update time. If the price is reasonable and the update was recent that should be a good sign.

My husband and I drove north on I-75 on Friday, 9/27 to Nashville past Atlanta and Chattanooga, and drove back the same route on Tuesday, October 1. Roads were all in great shape, so you should not have a problem.

Just don’t comment on the state of the trees or any electric power trucks you see on the way.

This sounds like my dad planning a family trip in 1975, with a map on the dining room table, writing the directions on a yellow note pad.

Gas buddy is great for prices, but in a natural disaster, it doesn’t LYK if there is a line a mile long.

Not directly, but if there are multiple stations open in an area and prices are reasonable then I would assume there are not long lines at all of them. A confirmation would be if google maps does not show heavy traffic in the immediate vicinity of the station.

And of course, both those are only snapshots that could change by the time you arrived.

Google maps shows the I10 route open as well but taking it will add over three hours and 270 miles to the trip.

We came down that route on Wednesday from southern Indiana. No issues except slow traffic in Atlanta. It's always a crapshoot going thru there late afternoon on a week day.
