is anyone aware of problems with the new smart meters being installed , both health and safty ......... I recieved a note from a E pal in Maryland where the meters have been installed throughout the town and it is disturbing to say the least ........ I 'm not sure it has been discussed in this forum
........ note from E-pal;That was very interesting. Five years ago we had our power heavied up. The electrian told us that the power company would then install a smart meter and to expect increase in the bill and power surges. We didn't get a smart meter at that time when the power company came out he told my husban to keep the old meter as long as possible. This past summer our entire town was done with smart meters. The bill has gone up, there have been surges and they do cycle the power down doing high demand. The AC will not work when they power down. Then there was that fire down the street on Jan. 1, 2013 cause according to the fire marshal was due to the fact the new meter was not installed right. We could not opt out..I also found it interesting about the health issues. I've had terrible sleeping problems I've never had. My computer is right inside the house with the meter right outside the very wall the computer is on. I might think about moving the computer somewhere else. I really like where it is now, I must give this some thought. Thanks for the information. Good luck with the smart meter.

SECO is not going to be retro-fitting existing homes with the Smart Meters. However, I do not know about other power companies in The Villages.
