Default Empty Lots at Brownwood

While at Brownwood last week I noticed how high the grass was in some of the empty lots.
In particular, between Ricardi's and Tojays and across from them. Would look alot better mowed.

Any idea what is going in across from Cal's, there is a large fence there now looks like getting ready for construction, but I do not recall seeing any announcements?

I asked that question last week and Champion6 replied The Villages Offices that are currently upstairs at LSL near Starbucks are moving into a new building on that lot.

It's another building going up for commercial space, nothing has been announced as to what businesses will occupy that spaces.

Brownwood would also look a lot better if all those empty store fronts were occupied.
You would think that now -- four years later -- they still wouldn't be empty.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it???

Sure doesn't make me wonder. With the addition of Fenny Brownwood will become the new defacto center of The Villages. The occupancy will come. You are seeing it on 466A and 44. Bwood is sure to follow.

Not at all. (What pot are you trying to stir up?)
Rome was not built in a day.
I could go on and on about how Sumter Landing was built and how long it took, but....................

They could of had Jersey Mike's two years ago, but they said they wouldn't rent them a space that small. Now Trailwinds Village will get JM's and probably put a big hurt on the two Subways on that end of TV at Pinellas Plaza and Traverse Plaza.

As far as comparisons, LSL opened in 2004 and for example Panera's didn't open at LSL until May 2011.

Lake Sumter Landing To Open Doors Sunday
July 31, 2004|By Lisa Emmerich, Sentinel Staff Writer

THE VILLAGES -- Lake Sumter Landing, The Villages' new downtown, opens its doors to the public Sunday.

Much like Spanish Springs Town Square, Lake Sumter Landing will feature restaurants, shops and nightly entertainment. The Villages sales and business offices will move to the new square. Pastel-colored houses with wide porches border the square on one side. They will house potential home buyers who are visiting the community.

Lake Sumter Landing was designed with turn-of-the-century Key West architecture -- plantation shutters, tin roofs and decorative porch columns -- in shades of blue, yellow and pink.

The Square has an imaginary history, including a tale about livestock auctions twice weekly in the gazebo area, and a story about a taxidermy shop where hunters gathered. A makeshift lock and a lighthouse make the area look more authentic.

Shops there will include a bead bar, a tearoom, a florist, clothing shops, a jewelry store, Starbucks, Haagen-Dazs, Market Street Cafe and many others. Most of the shops will open during the next few months.

do you remember how long it took for LSL to have 100%. Not a lot going on when we first got here in 07, we spent more time in SS then.

I will probably be criticized for "splitting hairs," but Lake Sumter Landing is not 100% built out. The are still two empty lots on opposite corners of the intersection at Lake Sumter Landing/Old Camp Road/Lake Shore Drive. Just sayin
