Still wondering about the secret to knowing a particular car is owned by a Villager.

Also, how do you count the cars that don’t pass you in order to come up with the 99% number?

Certainly, there are some but it seems to me that the vast, vast majority of Villagers drive pretty close to the speed limit.
I thought when I wrote “it seems to me”, that I was expressing my perception, not a scientific fact. I stand by my original statement.

We need a new topic for every driver who is doing something wrong or driving 20.1MPH+. Doesn't anyone think the word "entitled" is really getting overused, misused and worn out?

Definition:
en·ti·tled
/inˈtīdld,enˈtīdld/
adjective
believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment.
"kids who feel so entitled and think the world will revolve around them"

No sure how "entitled" comes close to describing the situation in the OP. Maybe confused or lost would be more correct, unless someone asked the driver if he felt he deserved to be on the road instead of the path in an unlicensed vehicle. As to the "24mph". BFD. 2/3rds of the carts here do that plus I am sure the OP had his radar gun out checking out the guy's speed or drove 20 feet behind him to check it out.

Same observations here...

If you have lived here for a while I’m sure you have seen crazy driving behaviors by people in golf carts. The one that comes to my mind is, an elderly woman driving the opposite way on the Odell Circle going head on with on-coming traffic, she swerved around the cars and went on her way. Thank goodness she as well as other drivers weren’t hurt.

Well IMO the majority of Morse blvd and Buena Vista would be 45 mph roads if not for street legal carts being allowed on them. They are four lane limited access roads where you have to slow down in roundabouts. How often do you encounter a street legal cart (lsv) on either of them? I drive them accordingly

Default Blame the cart drivers not the road traffic

Pity the driver of the confused golf cart who encounters the entitled driver of the 3000 pound vehicle!
It is the inattentive (or drunk, senile, deaf, blind, stupid, texting, entitled, etc.) golf carts drivers who turn in front of traffic, pull out from stop signs in front of vehicles, or wander out of the cart lane that get into crashes. It is not the full size vehicle drivers hitting carts staying in their cart lanes. Exceptions listed below.

Death Race point system:
  • Women are worth an additional 10 points.
  • Teenagers are worth 40 points.
  • Kids under 12 are worth 75 points.
  • Seniors over 75 are worth 100 points.

Stay in the right lane please unless you are preparing to take the third exit in a traffic circle

Some of the golf carts seen leaving Golden Corral daily weigh considerably more than 800 lbs some close to double that

Then again not long ago a lady in her late 80s was driving down BV, in a cart. I slowed my car to let her know I would follow her to the next exit, to get her safety off the road.

When she was safe, she informed me she needed to get to the doctor and since she usually drove her car, this was the only way she knew to get there. Didn’t know how to navigate the cart path to office.

Not entitled, determined, and confused, but determined to get to where she was going, and the only way she knew.
I myself, all too often assign a negative intent to an action or statement, but being negative or nasty doesn’t change the situation and it just makes me miserable!

I felt lighter, happier after reading your reply- thank you for the positive perspective- which is as equally possible an explanation as the negative - and makes you and those that read it, more joyful.

Why is this person “entitled?” Maybe they are visitors and got confused.

Nevertheless, whatever the cause, the problem still remains. As the Villages continues to grow the traffic congestion will only increase, and with it the chances for serious injury or death especially for those who operate golf carts or bicycles not just on MMPs physically separated from the roadways but on the roadways themselves. An 800 - lb. golf cart or a bicycle offers little protection when the other vehicle involved in an accident weighs 3,000 pounds or more.

So I guess we all should drive 6000 pound SUVs to be safe. (sarcastically speaking)
