Common misbelief. LSV is allowed on path. Discussion has been posted in other threads.

Street legal carts are absolutely allowed on the cart paths. If for instance driving from Sarasota to Turtle Mound, you are NOT ALLOWED on 466A. If not allowed on cart path they would have to maybe go all the way down Pinellas to Buena Vista and go back to tunnel under 466A.

Some of us should not be driving at all, most particularly in heavy, often mixed (car, cart, bicycle) traffic. Unfortunately those about whom this is most true, will be the ones most heavily denying that fact.

I've also had close calls with fast-moving carts rushing to pass extremely close in front or behind me in crosswalks with no warning, sometimes focused only on nabbing a rare parking spot in a crowded Square. As a Pedestrian in TV, you must be on the defensive at all times and keep checking your back, as you have no warning and many cart drivers seem to care little that unwillingness to slow their cart's momentum could cause an injury that could prevent someone from ever walking again. Quite a few who routinely take a shortcut by whipping through the Winn Dixie parking lot at LSL exhibit this behavior.

First of all, they are not "taking a short cut", for better or worse that is how cart traffic is routed ever since they deemed the path crossing at Old Mill Run too dangerous and closed it.
Second, that cart traffic is routed along the "main road" of the parking lot----those who are in an aisle have a stop line.
Third, I have no idea how fast "whipping through" is, but many cars are "whipping through" much faster.

I'm not sure I understand the post. The LEGAL golf cart speed is NOT 24 it is 20. Entitled?
There are of course some in every group that are what I call astronomers. They are certain the world revolves around them. There seem to be few police. It, must be amusing. A court case. Yes, your honor he was driving a blue Yamaha golf cart and I clocked him doing 24 mph. He claims golf carts have no plates. How do you know it was him?

Plates on all golf carts would be the answer. Do we want that? Do I want that? Enforcement, like everything else, goes up AFTER someone or many people are injured.

you've given me a lot to think about.

On this particular subject, the first time I played pickleball at Miona it wasn't clear to me how to get out of the lot. Instead of going through the lot back to Bailey Trail, the way I went in, I went out the exit towards Buena Vista. I knew I wasn't supposed to be on BV so I took what I thought was a cart path, but was just a sidewalk. Until someone rather nicely told me I wasn't supposed to be there either.

I'm wondering if the person referred to in the OP was just as confused as I was.

You believe wrong.

You might want to read this:

Street legal carts can only drive on roads with posted speed limit of 35 mph or lower. They can cross streets with a higher speed limit but only at an intersection.

Street legal carts may drive on paths but should not exceed 20 mph.

They can cross 466-A legally without going in the tunnel just can’t drive on 466-A
