By refering to the creators of The Villages (through their generations) as "The Developer" is a little like saying "The Great and Powerful Wizard of Oz." I prefer calling people by their name. Afterall, they are people! They are not hiding behind a curtain!
Actually, they are. How often do you see any of them hanging out at the square and shaking hands, as the original developer did? One or two of them come out from behind the curtain once a year to tell us how lucky we are that they have blessed us with such a wonderful life.
Many of you forget, they didn't PROVIDE us with this. We paid a premium price to live here. Capitalism, not generosity provided this lifestyle.

One would assume Capitalism, not generosity was behind MOST of the residents of TV being able to afford living here.

Absolutely! I'm not bashing capitalism in the least. Just tired of hearing how the developer "blessed us" like we are welfare idiots sucking on his teets.

If I was a billionaire I would not want to hang with the riff-raff either.

Sad that some many youngsters think capitalism is the worst thing in the world and we need socialism.

Socialistic or capitalistic ? You label each one ! By the way educate me on the one you drew the line between socialist and capitalistic and why you drew the line at that point.

You paid a premium price to live here because of what the Schwatz/Morse vision built and provided to us that moved here. We did nothing except buy a house. We do nothing to preserve what they built except write a check so we can continue to use what they provided. We all moved here because of what they provided, if they didn't provide what we wanted we wouldn't be here. If it what they provided no longer meets our needs why the heck are we still here? Or is just the need to complain because they were able to provide what we wish we could have done? End of mini rant!

If you saw members of the Morse family on the squares………..how would that change your life? Yea, I thought so….no change!
You paid a premium price (your opinion), if so that was your choice. How can you blame someone else?

Are you really serious? The Family go to a square to mingle and some of the idiots that live here in TV find that out? Talk about a real s#%t storm…. Their lives would genuinely be threatened.

In the context of my overall post: "their own" is in contrast to "have to leave the property to get to."

Yes, those amenities are available for other Villagers. But only the people in the Lofts have access to it without having to leave the Lofts property to get to it. Everyone else has to leave wherever they're living, to get to those Lofts amenities. With the Spanish Springs apartments, there will be no amenities "on site." Tenants will have to leave Spanish Springs town square to get to the nearest rec center.

Not sure why some folks have such a hard time understanding this.

The present rise in housing costs notwithstanding, your assumption is erroneous.

From the very beginning of the Villages, it was marketed as a place where everyone of any income level could afford to live here and enjoy the amenities equally.

We were solidly in "lower class" but above poverty level when we moved here. We're still well under $50k/year, with pension and social security and one of us working part time.

So cut it with the "able to afford" living here horsepucky. There are plenty of us who live here BECAUSE we couldn't afford to live wherever we came from, and this was the affordable option to living in poverty.

Don't make sense
One of the reasons there’s a premium on the houses inside the bubble, is because of the exclusive golf cart access.
It helps the Developer on their sales, it also helps out property value.
