Default Explain Ukrain for me

I have tested with a pretty high IQ; however, I don't understand what is going on in the Ukrain and need someone to help me understand. I have a hearing problem and cannot understand most of the TV news and I have not read anything comprehensive in The Daily Sun or any other tribunal. Please straighten me out.

1) Putin - Has he given a public statement as to why and what he hopes to accomplish by sending in the military, bombing, destroying and killing so many thousand of Ukrainians? I realize that Ukrain was once part of the USSR before it broke up. Is this an ego trip for Putin to seek revenge....a power play? What does he accomplish with his military actions?

2) What is NATO and, especially, America doing about Putin's invasion. I understand that we and some NATO nations have imposed "sanctions" on Russia and I am told those sanctions have frozen Russia financial assets around the globe. So, is that a big deal? Sounds to me like a slap on the wrist: "Vladamir, you're a bad, bad boy. Go sit in the corner and think about what you did'? I hope, and more especially I pray , that this situation doesn't end up with WWIII. But how can we and other NATO nations stop this massacre without sending in our troops and have American life's lost? Or should we just stay the hell out of the situation?

3) If we or any other NATO nation sends in troops and goes head to head with Russia, will China join in with Russian forces against us.....how about North Korea or ISIS forces.

For saying you don’t understand……you have it figured out.

I've read on "Censored News" that Putin is concerned about the bioweapon labs all over Ukraine that the US is funding and are leaking viruses too close to Russia's border. Also, he is helping two Ukrainian areas to break away from their Soros-funded government.

Putin is a war criminal, period.
Putin is former KGB, old school communist and wants to rebuild the USSR. He enjoys the great narcissist feeling of supreme power.
When he is finally dealt with there will be a great sigh of relief from his own people as well as the rest of the world. Unfortunately, it appears that the rest of the world is going to sit back and watch as he destroys a whole country. Right now, he is killing more innocent civilians than military. Regardless of how this might or might not affect us, how can any decent country sit back and watch this repetition of what they did to the Ukraine in the past, when Russia took the Ukraine and starved thousands of citizens per day. Hopefully, the good Russian people will do what is right and rid themselves of the Putin disease.

Helping Ukraine by killing hundreds of civilians? "Soros funded?" Does that mean that we are next?

Russia has been attacked three times by Western European countries - Napoleon (1814) and twice by Germany (1914 and 1941). Russia didn't like that.

After WW2, Stalin kept control of the Eastern European countries they had conquered because they provided a buffer against future Western European attacks. That led to 77 years of peace in Europe.

Over the years, some of the Eastern European countries got tired of being controlled by Russia, so they broke away and some even joined NATO. Russia didn't like that and wants them back under Russian control.

Not sure how the Russian people think about the above but you have summed up Putin very nicely.

Thanks.

And Ukraine just wants to be independent and make their own choices, which seems very reasonable.

However, there can be a problem if you border a very powerful, aggressive, imperialist country. Ask Mexicans how they feel about what we did to them in 1846.

I'll be sure to do that, next time I run into a Mexican that was there in 1846. Any questions I should ask next time I run into a Trojan or a Carthaginian?

I bet even modern Mexicans can tell you what the United states did to them in 1846 and how it compares to what Russia is doing to Ukraine.
