I don't remember that post on TOTV. But I read in the Daily Sun back in December that there is a club in TV ... I'm sorry I don't have much information ... I haven't had much time to look into it although I intend to. I think it was called something like "Heros and Horses".

My Son's Retired Army Cavalary Horses from Ft Carson Colorado were moved there.

One passed away last year.

Nice man that runs the place. There are tours but it gets pretty emotional. Lots of kindness for the animals

I have a old post with some pics somewhere on this site.

Yes, Happy Horse Rescue Farm in Weirsdale has volunteer service for their 13 horses that have been rescued. If you want a phone #, PM me and I'll give you the information.

What happened to the list of volunteer's names taken at the open house last fall? Myself and several neighbors were eager to help, but never heard anything.

I used to be affiliated with a group called The Happy Horse Rescue Farm located in Summerfield. Our volunteers at the time (just prior to Thanksgiving 2011), held an open house and had the Daily Sun come out for a photo shoot. Unfortunately, some of the volunteers were getting hurt and the volunteers were asked not to come back! It was a sad day indeed as I really miss the horses. This is the website that I had created for them... http://www.happyhorserescuefarm.org/adopt.html
The farm really wasn't a rescue as the horses were never adopted out. We were told that this was a rescue and we bought into this and raised lots of money for them.
Since then, most of the group of volunteers have donated their time to Camp Wildwood (Girl Scout Camp) located just off of route 301. I believe they have 42+ horses and about 500 acres of land. Really a first-rate operation. As you can tell, I didn't follow this group of volunteers but keep up with their activities.

Mulligan,, thank you for coming to the open house that day. I was the one who took your name and 5 pages of other peoples names who wanted to volunteer. In defense of my credibility here on TOTV, I will tell you that I turned those names into the current volunteer group and was assured today that letters were sent out to all the people on those lists thanking them and giving them information on how to volunteer. In fact, I was told that some people from those lists are current working volunteers. I hope this answers your question, and if you did not get a letter, I'm sorry for the mishandling of your sincere offer. KathieI

Thanks, Kathie. I sort of figured it wasn't you that delayed the contact.

The Daily Sun, including the Recreation News, is great for information on Clubs and Volunteer Opportunities. I also googled "rescue horses" in Florida and there are tons of organizations looking for help.
