I'm looking at the cam at Spanish Springs and I see no setup activity going on like I would expect as some of the Farmers Market vendors begin setting up before 7AM. Anybody know why this is or what's going on?

Never thought of a parking lot, especially since I swear I saw parking spots roped off on the cam last night! Could be wrong about that, but it's doubtful. I wasn't drinking last night!

If I remember correctly, last time everything was set up on the west side of the square which you can not see with the cam

Just got back from the farmers market. They are set up all along del mar up to Katie bells. Then they are on the street that is where the gym and gators dockside are. Not taking up the whole square. Very crowded trouble finding a parking spot. Lots of vendors some are the same as in brownwood.

Nice crowd at the Farmer's Market in Spanish Springs this morning. Parking is available, however, a short walk is in order. I mean you'll be walking thru the market area, right? My only thoughtis that the vendors who sell fresh baked goods, pastry, cookies, and the like, should have them covered. Having flies walking over the baked goods is just NOT good. You will no doubt wash veggies when you get them home, but I doubt you wash pastry and baked goods. Any board of health regulations about this????

From what I saw there wasn't many vendors that had the fresh baked goods that were not covered. The guy selling cookies had them under a plastic dome and the fresh breads where Saran wrapped. It looked like the open baked goods were for tasting. I would be more worried about the lady selling fish out of coolers I think that we're packed in ice.because it was really hot outside and I would be afraid of the ice melting.

SoccerCoach, I can appreciate your concerns about the pastry and baked goods, but I do have a few observations to mention.

This very issue was previously discussed in a former thread in greater detail, and immediately afterward I noticed that the waiting line for the vendor that I believe you're referring to, more than tripled over the next 3 or 4 weeks. It was probably just coincident and not because of the discussion, but I did find that interesting.

Also, my wife was speaking to the woman at that vendor a couple of weeks ago and she did indicate that she was going to try and find a way to catch the "flies" or bugs to at least help minimize their nuisance.

It is also my, and my wifes personal opinion that it would be impracticable to try and keep the goods covered in that the mere volume of customers and a constant on and off of covers would be counter productive for more than one reason. Perhaps one needs to experience the process of going through the line to understand, perhaps not, but that's our opinion for whatever it's worth!

We purchased fish from the lady with the cooler at least twice and I can say that they were frozen solid each time. I think she will also provide you with ice for your trip home if you ask for it and if she has enough left to do so.

Your welcome! BTW, feel free to ask her about how and when it's frozen and how long she would expect it to stay adequately frozen until you get it back into a freezer or better yet cook and eat it! I'd tell you here but I don't know the details except that I believe it's frozen right away while still at sea.

As Skyguy79 stated. We too purchased from them multiple times. They give you enough ice to withstand transport. The coolers are pretty well insulated, however, if there was an air space beneath them (like set on 2 x 4's) may help.

The lobster tails I purchased from the seafood stand in BW were still frozen solid when I got home. They were put in a nice bag with ice.
